If there was something Rory could say in favor of Marlborough t was that its residents were helpful. Or perhaps that was a hidden obligation when it came to dealings with a blind girl. Either way, she wasnât about to question it and drive away someone perfectly willing to help. âThree dollars?â she echoes, smiling as she felt the movement of the coins in her hand. âNo, no. Three is perfectly fine. They were quite good and Iâm sure it would make them very happy.â Optimism comes almost too naturally to the girl. âThey were just around the corner! Youâre very welcome to join me. Might keep me from embarrassing myself from putting the money into a trash bin on accident or something.â
Roryâs condition wasnât something that was a make or break for Ophelia. She was going to try to be helpful to anyone that needed any type of help because it made her feel good and she always loved to see people happy. âIf theyâre as good as you say they are, then I should definitely come check them out with you.â Like Rory, optimism came too naturally. Ophelia always tried to have a positive mindset about everything growing up that it felt like it was something so normal now. âYikes, yeah, that doesnât sound too good. Iâd love to come join if you donât mind.â
Nicolai sat at the edge of one of the steps as he had been since heâd gotten off work that day. There was something about going back to his room that felt to routine to him. At least at the bar there was the hustle and buzz of customers coming and going and the noise was enough to keep him out of his head. Back in his apartment, things got to quiet, which was what lead him to sitting on the stairs, watching people pass by outside and walk past him up and down the stairs. He hadnât even realized heâd been staring at the last person whoâd walked in until someone else moved past him. âShit Iâm sorry, I didnât mean to be in the way. I must have just spaced out.âÂ
Ophelia carried back a bag filled with chips and other shit she decided she needed for comfort. College stress has gotten the best of her, especially now that sheâs taken up more classes to be able to get this all over with. She pushed the door open with her hip, walking in the lobby before noticing someone staring at her direction. She furrowed her eyebrows, feeling slightly uncomfortable. She never enjoyed being looked at to begin with. Nodding, she replied, âitâs fine. It happens to the best of us at the worst of times, itâs understandable. But that is a really inconvenient place to be zoning out.â

iâve been worried all my life,
a nervous wreck most of the time.
iâve always been afraid of heights,
of falling backwards, falling backwards.
iâve been worried all my life.
@Ophelia_: i dont remember the last time ive actually left my house for anything other than college
Gentle On My Mind|Ophelia and Remi
@okophelia
âCome here puppy. Come on puppy baby, itâs okay. Itâs okay.â
Remielâs voice is soft and high as he holds out a piece of beef jerky to the trembling mass hiding beneath the bench just outside Marlborough. Heâs been at it for almost 20 minutes  but heâs determined now. He knows what itâs like to be homeless and heâll be hard pressed to let such a sad creature whither and freeze when he has a slightly warmer apartment upstairs.Â
He hold out his free hand when he hears a set of footsteps, trying to still them. âShhhh, I almost got the little brah out. Just give me a minute to get the dog out, I donât want to scare him away. Then you can walk on right around me. I just need one minuteâŠâ his voice strains when he tries to stick the beef jerky a micrometer closer to the dog.Â
"Andy,â Ophelia yelled. For the past hour or two sheâs been trying to find Andy, her youngest, and smallest puppy. She ran up to the top floor and worked her way down. She wasnât sure how or when she left, but Ophelia was guessing around the time she came back home from work because she decided she needed groceries since she didnât actually have anything in her fridge. âAndy, where did you go?â she whispered to herself.
She sighed when she got to the lobby, hoping Andy was near by because Ophelia wouldnât know what to do if she wasnât. Opening the doors that lead outside, Ophelia immediately regrets not wearing something heavier than a sweater when she was greeted by the cold air. Rubbing her arms to try to keep them warm, Ophelia turned to see a guy bent down with beef jerky in his hand. She walked towards him trying to figure out what he was doing and to see if he needed any help. âDo you-- Oh my god, Andy,â she shrieked.Â
@Ophelia_: death by college
kindness and love floods her spirit.     she is sweet, gentle, and sensitive.  she cares for those who cannot care for themselves,               and loves those who cannot find love elsewhere.   she is warm hearted in every respect.Â
Oli often found himself refraining from thinking about his future. He had a habit of living in the now and not thinking about the past. Except he never succeeding with the later, so essentially, he was going through life living in denial about his past. Thinking ahead terrified him- he liked his routine. He liked knowing that he would wake up every morning, go grab his coffee, nap, go to work and repeat. It was easy- tolerable; and extremely boring. If he were to face the facts, he hated it, but in his eyes he had no other options. There was nothing else he could do. The future scared him for so many reasons, but one that he feared the most was becoming his parents- becoming his father. It was his biggest fear- his biggest insecurity and he had no idea of how to conquer it. He thought he had, but every now and then heâd get these short episodes of anger and he didnât understand where they came from or how to process them. They were never anything big, it came mostly from frustration, but even the hint of anger made him nervous. It was why whenever Ophelia felt like he was shouting in text messages, no matter how silly it sounded, it made him feel awful. Because he knew exactly what she felt, because heâd been yelled at plenty too. He tried to stop his mind from overworking itself, feeling her shake a little more viciously in his arms. âShhh, youâre okay.â He rocked her from side to side a little, as silly as it was it had always relaxed him.
Liking routine wasnât something Ophelia liked. She liked different, and not knowing what will happen the next day. The whole idea of having everything the same every day of her life terrified her because that meant that everything sheâd hoped would happen would never happen. For the most part, her daily schedule is the same because sheâs balancing college, work and studying, but on her days off she tries to change things up. The future excited her because itâs something sheâs had planned completely since she was a child. She wasnât too scared of ending up like her father because she can barely raise her voice to someone, let alone yell and be angry all the time. A part of her was scared sheâd end up like her mom, though, even if sheâs only smoked once or twice. She was afraid sheâd end up tiring herself out to the point where she would have to find a way to relieve herself like smoking, or end up with someone who was half as bad as their dad. Gasping repeatedly, Ophelia tried to catch a breath to calm herself down. âI really should leave,â she managed to get out. She felt and most likely looked like a mess. âWait, my mascara isnât running, is it?â Everything that has happened in the past thirty to fifty minutes was overwhelming. She couldnât recall the last time Oli even seen her cry this hard and she didnât want to either, which was why she was trying to change the subject. She wasnât very comfortable with anything thatâs been admitted which was why it just felt right.Â

Rory knows there was probably someone in the lobby of Marlborough â either a resident milling about or, at the very least the person who worked the front desk. She steps inside and clears her throat, her hand diving into her pocket to produce a bit of the change sheâd heard jingling there.  âExcuse me,â her voice still comes out as soft, âcould you tell me if thereâs at least a dollar here? Thereâs a street performer outside and Iâd really like to give them something.â Sheâs not got a lot to give â her allowance from her brother is fairly meager considering heâs juggling a campus job on top of his schooling â but being Rory, sheâs wanting to appreciate the artist outside all the same.
Ophelia had been waiting at the front dest for the past half an hour or so but sheâs been told to wait most of the time. There was a leakage from the room above her and she was getting frustrated by dripping water. Slightly startled, Ophelia turned around. âOf course,â she smiled, walking towards her. While counting the quarters, she moved each coin to the side to make sure she didnât count the same one twice. âYeah, you have just under three dollars, actually. Uh, do you want to give it all, or would you rather I hand two dollars first so you could put it back? But street performer? I would love to give them something too if youâd like to go together.âÂ
