At last, there are other members of Unit 5 around.
He finally has people under his command to boss around.
Sera was a young woman that passed most of her free time daydreaming, mind elsewhere, carrying stories within her written to make the time spent alone shorter; so the other’s approach was unheard as she continued to hum quietly to herself. When she came to, it wasn’t that she was startled by his presence, it was more that she was startled by her own lack of awareness.
She took the briefest of moments to inspect him, properly determine whether he was a potential friend or foe. Pale fingers tucked stray strands behind her ear, ❝I’m sorry… Um, someone told me that there was a wishing fountain hologram around here. Is that true? Are- are we allowed to visit it?❞
Yukio mirrored the girl's movements, examining her appearance just as she was scrutinizing his. She was somewhat shorter than himself, with wide nervous eyes and a rather quiet voice. Completely harmless, if he was any judge. He lifted a hand to adjust his glasses on his nose, gaze still fixed on her face after she had finished speaking. She had asked him a question. He blinked once, taking only a brief moment to contemplate before he answered. He had lived in the city his whole life, after all. He knew it well.
"It is true." His calculating expression melted away into a smile when he finally spoke. "You don't need to apologize, I'm happy to help. Yes, you are allowed to visit it and I can show you the way if you would like to see it." He tilted his head to the side ever so slightly as he awaited her response.
assumption and truth were rarely synonymous with one another. if he’d
opened his eyes for even a fraction of a second, he might have come to realize that — saving himself, in the process, from whatever wound his next line would end up inflicting on his pride.
he hadn’t, though. and so, he holds fast to whatever notion he’s come up with, and shrugs a shoulder as he responds. so very sure.
“ you wouldn’t be here if you didn’t want something. ”
True. The man's words were indeed true. But Yukio hadn't approached the man with a purpose. He was an A ranked citizen - there was nothing he needed to approach him about. The smile remained on his face as he spoke again, just as carefully as before. "Is a man not allowed to take a walk in this part of the city without getting accused of something?" His tone was light, ever so light.
"I assure you, if I had approached you with a purpose, our business would already be completed." Not that they had any business to attend to in the first place.
“ whatever it is you’re about to say — i’m not interested. ”
dismissively waving him off all the while, as though he would actually disappear with the action. how disappointing it was, then, to find that the other was still standing there in the end.
"I see..." Yukio spoke slowly, almost carefully, as though taking the time to taste each syllable of his words. His eyebrows drew together ever so slightly as his gaze moved over the face of the man before him. Well, he had certainly jumped to conclusions. A tiny smile played at the corner of his lips as he spoke again. "And what gave you the impression I was going to say anything at all?"
I was the one with the world at my feet Got us a battle, leave it up to me (x)
A house on fire, huh? Now there was a saying that he hadn’t ever heard in his lifetime. Or had he? Also, that didn’t sound like an altogether good thing, either. At the smile, he nods and looks away for a moment before vivid orbs look back. “Sounds like a plan.” Shifting in his spot, eyes blink once and then twice before he’s speaking again. Oh, look at him, being talkative today. “You’re an Inspector, right?”
Yukio lifted a brow at the man's words. Had they not only just agreed to stay out of each other's business? The question had been relatively harmless, however, and he saw no reason to avoid answering it. If they were to be living together, they should at least get along. Right? He adjusted his glasses with one finger, letting out an affirmative hum. "I am. Inspector Okumura, Unit Five." His head tilted ever so slightly to the side as he considered his companion. "And yourself?"
"As long as you stay out of my job, I don’t really care, actually." Shrugging his left shoulder, Trip sits down upon the couch. "I don’t like sharing, but I also don’t like unnecessary trouble."
"Then I'm sure we'll get along like a house on fire if you keep to your business and I keep to mine." He smiled sweetly. The man looked strong - stronger than himself - and Yukio did not much want to get on his bad side, especially if the two of them were going to be living in the same apartment.
Yet another roomie, huh? That made their “home” full. "They better be quiet…"
"I shall be quiet as a mouse if that's what you wish." He lifted a brow. If his other roommate was also a grump, his living experience would be exactly that - an experience.
