Scene’s Review

Scene:1

Whilst creating mu first scene I had a couple of issues with my animation and the layout. Firstly, I had to change my characters thought bubble several time so that it could fit in with the story I change the love heart shape love bubble into every thought bubble cloud. I also changed the colours of the objects/characters inside the thought bubble to suggest my character Remy thought were from the past. I also had the opportunity to show Kevin spruce my work to get professional feedback and he advised to add angel wings to the Remy’s father and his wife to suggest that they have both pasted away.

Scene:2

In this scene Remy is show jumping off a building into a bin this scene wasn’t too difficult to animate however it was time consuming. Although the character animation was easy because of my characters rig adding tear was what I thought would be difficult however Shape tween helped making it easier.

Scene:3

Making of scene 3 was difficult especially when it came to animating Remy hanging himself and falling. This type of movement was new to me. Watching Ove and happiness and cyanide sad Larry helped to animate the character and because I took my time with the second scene I had giving myself a little time to experiment more with this scene. Overall, I was pleased with this scene however the animation could be better.

5,6,7

Scene 5: animating scene 5 was slightly easier however, I didn’t give myself enough time to experiment with this scene as well which also affected scene 6 and 7 however I was stills happy with the outcome because I had learned a lot from animating, character rigging, story development and environment design. I think if there wasn’t a pressure of a deadline and if I had believed in myself more that I could finish and animate the angles and scenes that I set to do I would have made my animation better. Furthermore, my next goal for the next few weeks is to keep on developing and not to be discourage because I do believe in my skills and I am determined to push myself to continue developing my skills.

In the Fall

In the fall was also an animation which I like, the storyline was fascinating and comedic. In the animation the character is showing to us as an old grumpy man was just on top of his building watering his plants, as he walks close to the edge of his flat he slips on a banana pill which causes him to fall of the building whilst he fell down a quick shorts of his life was show, however as he looked back on his life he realises that he had always been miserable, grumpy, he had nothing to leave behind and he was stuck In an office for majority of his life so he decided he was happy to die.

Falling in love

Falling in love is an animated short I came across on YouTube which also had similar storyline to my animation. In this animation the main character is also grieving a lost he also tries to take his life to end his grief however in this movie the main character took his own life after seeing a woman jump off another building in front of him, so you could say he died finding what he was looking for.

Sad Larry

I watched cyanide & Happiness short: sad Larry. I like the story-line and the character animation. Firstly, I like the story-line because I can relate it to my character Larry who’s also grieving and wants to take his own life to end his sorrow. Secondly, I like their character animation because although their characters are stick men like you can still understand their body language even without the sounds.

happiness and cyanide shorts character design where also inspirational to my character designs. Although they are drawn to look like stick men the characters are given human objects such as clothes, hair to some character which weirdly enough worked very well with the animation and the stick men design would have made animating their characters easier because they were only a three-man squared when they started. Making my character design simple was always my goal so that I was able to animate without too many problems.

Background Art

Whilst, building and developing my background I watched and used family guy, the Simpsons, and American dad as references to help me develop my environment. I like the straight lines art used to draw the building making it look clean and well defined and the simple clear details that they had add to the environment makes it stand out the types of colours that they used to not make the building and characters clash was also something I had to look into and the Simpsons would use complementary colours for their characters and primary for their environment.

Character art style¬-

The art style for my animation was inspired by Ricky and Morty art style, there odd asymmetrical feature that they use to develop the characters to avoid making the character look normal and with redefined lines. Which is how I had always drawn my characters. although I wasn’t happy/confident about it at first however when I researched into Ricky and Morty art style I saw that they used asymmetrical feature on purpose whereas I would normally use asymmetrical feature without knowing.

Before animating I started to develop some rig to understand how my character movement will look and so I can make changes to the character if the movement of the character wasn’t right. I had some difficulties with where to put my characters registration so that I can move the characters body however, for example if I were to move my characters lower arm its lower arm would become disconnected for his upper arm and when it comes to animating it the body part would come out of place to help me overcome this problem I watched Alan Beckers tutorial on character rigs and he advised to keep the characters body shapes straight at first so I was able to put the pivot points in the right angle to create a better and smooth movement.

After rigging the characters, I did some test on the them to see how well they animate, at first the character movement looked rough however after adding Tweening and extending the classic tween in the timeline I was able to get smooth movement from my character.
