Rice-Filled Heating pad. In this case, a foot warmer. I never got around to making a quilt for my son and at this point a whole quilt seems daunting. So I quilted this pad and filled it with raw rice. 2-3 minutes in a microwave and it warms as much as any quilt!
DIY Coffee Table
The legs of this coffee table are a couple of wine racks purchased at a yard sale. I used a leftover piece of plywood, a bit of paint, and glued on tiles from a seconds bin. Tiles don't fit perfectly? No problem. I just filled in the spaces with some floral stones. Wine can still be stored underneath in the racks. Total price = under $20
Cost=$0 (If you don't factor in that I need an eye exam and new glasses. I really have trouble threading a needles these days!)
<$1.00/serving
Velvety Butternut Apple Bisque served with spinach/cranberry salad. (Even <$1.00/serving with seconds on the bisque!) Yum!
Remember to use reusable grocery bags!
Raw. I really mean to take pictures of the "AFTER". Daughter came to dinner. I made this beef, quinoa & veggie meatloaf, roasted potatoes, roasted tomatoes and sautéed spinach (not pictured) all salt-free yet packed full of herby and garlic flavor. = Less than $1/serving
One t-shirt = 1 reusable grocery bag, 4 flowers and 1 odd piece to add to a bunting (not pictured). My cost = $0.
Globes for exterior light fixture: Glue the mason jar lid into the fixture and screw the jar on for an instant globe. Cost for globes - $0 (already had mason jars).
=Priceless
Brunch: Leftover spaghetti squash and asparagus topped with a fried egg.
Cost - $0 Love my leftovers!
I made these flowers from old, forgotten, perhaps ripped or stained-somewhere tee shirts that would otherwise end up in a landfill. Some of these pictured were requested for special occasions; weddings, graduation. My goal is to make 1,000.
Dinner last night: Spaghetti Squash Caccio e Pepe and Asparagus=Less than $1.00/serving. Very Yummy!
From leftovers and a gift from the hens. Potato cake topped with a fried egg and creamed spinach and mushrooms. Less than $1.00/per serving. (This one is far less than $1.00/serving!)
I made a light shade from a couple of used kitchen chopping mats. I used two because I like the color it made when light came through it. It was easy to make holes in the mats to fasten with nuts and bolts. My total out of pocket expense - $0
