My precious, perfect baby boy
happy pride month from florence and evelyn!!!
Quick trip to the vet for a bordetella booster.
Ollie felt especially comfortable in office today, even settling down for a nap while we waited. He happily greeted every staff member he saw. And he stood bravely for his bordetella nasal spray.
The vet said, "I wish all dogs were this good," and you wouldn't even realize that he was talking about a dog who was terrified of him just three visits ago.

Evelyn got to do her beloved cone wraps for her birthday 🧡
Sorry for the lack of Ollie posts lately; I've had a lot going on. We're still here and well, though!
How do I write a post about Evelyn? She is a lightning bolt that, on May 22, 2021, struck the earth in dog-shape, and learned to live among its creatures. She is a guardian angel and an imp all at once. She is my most steadfast friend and my closest collaborator. Every morning as I put my shoes on to take her outside, she flings her body high into the air with joy. She is sharp-edged and beautiful and deeply intelligent. How grateful I am that she struck the earth that day, and then found me one year later.
Happy FIFTH birthday, Evelyn Marie.

Blending a deer heart and liver with some eggs and oats to make treats 😂 Achillea LOVED them and it made SO MANY. Will definitely continue to keep organ meat we typically don't eat when we get a deer, this method was much easier than dehydration i did with the lungs, and well worth the volume of treats! Spread paste thin on a cookie sheet and bake at 350F for ~30 min! I kept some out but will be freezing most of it and taking some out as needed!
We became a two-car household this week. I've never had my own car before, so this was very scary, but also very exciting.
My excitement quickly disappeared when I saw how Ollie felt about the new vehicle. He hated it.
We did some confidence building exercises in and around the car. We jumped in and out of it, nose targeted it, played chase games around the perimeter, sat in the back seat together to cuddle and snack on treats. It got Ollie to the point that he tolerated being in the car, but he still would put as much distance between him and the car as he could as soon as our sessions were over. He really was not a fan.
I made the decision to put Ollie in the car and take him to the park this morning, in the hopes that he would start associating the car with going somewhere fun.
This seems to have worked exactly how I wanted to. His first load up was very slow, reluctant, questioning. But when I asked him to hop back in after we played and sniffed at the park for a while? Not an eye was batted.
Now that we're getting over the newness of it, I'm back to looking forward to all of the new opportunities available to us. I don't think we'll ever be bored at home again.
