I’m working on three projects right now but for various reasons I’m keeping them more secret than usual. I’ll be updating with private posts for my own personal use and then I might make them public again soon :)

TRUSTAFARIAN VANITY PROJECT: THE FULL PROJECT PDF DOWNLOADABLE HERE NOW. BIG NEWS!
Tuatarina Madhouse, 2017.
(TVP Part Four [b] - A room that spins 360° based on traditional ‘madhouse’ theme park rides. As the room spins it makes the viewer sitting inside feel as if the room is static and they are instead spinning around, upside down. The room houses a floating seat, carved wooden silhouettes of laboratory equipment, two video screens and an embroidered egg in a nest of pinecones. During the spinning process a short collaged documentary video about the pineal gland and circadian rhythms alternately plays across the two screens and illuminates the egg in blue light. At the climax of the experience the egg hatches and a baby ‘tuatarina’ lizard is born.
The ‘tuatarina’ is based on the real-life tuatara, one of the few animals still born with three eyes. The entire experience is hand-operated.)

An Old Mechanics (Details), 2017
(TVP Part Three - A very low roof and a rustic ‘car creeper’. The creeper can be used by a viewer to awkwardly push themselves across the carpet, on their back, underneath the ceiling. The ceiling is covered in a textured paint design and displays five new drawings arranged in the shape of the eye of Horus. The drawings loosely describe a story of my experiences of art being used as ameliorative practice for financial gain. The carpeted floor makes it difficult to move from drawing to drawing, encouraging the viewer to spend a longer time with each, at very close range. The space is illuminated by a lamp hanging through the centre of the ceiling. The design of the lamp brings together the style of Charles Rennie Mackintosh with logos from West-end musical productions of Cameron Mackintosh.)

Diogenesian Teleidoscope, 2017
(TVP Part Two - A teleidoscope* in a homebrew barrel on a ball joint, for viewing the exhibition and accompanying patchwork window and door hangings, made from specially printed pastry bags and stickers. The window hangings cast a yellow light over the exhibition.
*A viewing device that makes kaleidoscopic images from whatever it focuses on.)
Pinelock Dreadcone, 2017
(TVP Part One - An over sized dreadlock made from pine cones hangs from the balcony to the front garden of The Viriconium Palace.)
Aww, Trustafarian Vanity Project is finished, no more places left to book. If you didn’t get to see it I’m sorry, you mega missed out. Eesh it was so good. ANYWAY here’s a picture of Sam and Lucie, the current custodians of The Viriconium Palace, hiding underneath the ceiling of one of the sculptures I made.
TVP is still going on in Bristol. Three days left to catch it.The general consensus (and my own) is that it’s one of the best shows I’ve ever made. I’m mega proud of it and feel sorry for people who won’t get to see it - your whole life has been wasted. I’ll upload pictures in the coming weeks to try and help you out BUT for now here is the floor plan for you to reflect upon.
Default position with Margaret post-TVP. Super flattering spy photo by Uncle Ashley.
Trustafarian Vanity Project is officially open! Here I am at the opening with Lucie and Sam who are the current custodians of The Viriconium Palace and made it all possible. They were great to work with and I think we’re all really proud of the exhibition. We got super great feedback so you should book your ticket here soon before they all go <3
Countdown to TVP!
When you see it
When it turns out everything you made is too big to go up the stairs…
(This is my stepbrother Henry pulling everything up to the balcony by hand!)

Here’s a picture of a massive band saw I used this summer to cut trees up into wood.
