She really did hate getting herself all dolled up. But, thankfully, it wasnât happening all that often, so she couldnât exactly complain that much about it. It was their first anniversary of actually being together, so it was more than obvious that she has to get dressed and look as best as she can, even though Cheyenne was more than sure that sheâs not going to be close to being as beautiful as her girlfriend. There was no way she could beat her to it, even if she tried. Sheâd just hope all these nights spent watching make-up tutorials finally paid off. She wasnât that big on covering her face with anything, but tonight was their special night, so she just needed (and wanted) to feel good in her own skin for once. No, she wasnât overflowing with confidence anymore. Once Chey stopped working at the gym, she became much lazier and stopped caring about what and how she eats certain things. That might have been a small factor in making her doubt herself and her abilities even more. Now, though, it wasnât the best time to get all sad and self-destructive, so she pushed all these negative thoughts to the back of her mind and hoped that nothing bad will happen by the time Olivia sneaks up on her and smothers her with kisses, because letâs be real, Cheyenne knew it was going to happen. This might or might not have been one of favourite things she used to do to her. It was cute, after all. Just like her partner.
Who knew wearing a dress wonât be as annoying as she used to think it was? It was safe to say that Chey was feeling fairly comfortable - much different, but still good. Having to look smart when she was a simple large sweater and skinny jeans person was something she didnât enjoy. But, honestly, would anyone really enjoy it if they were so used to their clothes? She didnât think so. Once Cheyenne was done with everything, she just stood up - just in time to notice that Liv was approaching her, holding something that looked like a book. Of course it would be the first thing sheâd notice. Then, she allowed her eyes to check the other girl out. It might have or might have not left her speechless. The first attempt at saying something coherent was a big mistake. Poor girl ended up looking like a fool, with her mouth slightly open and eyes slowly filling up with happy tears. Yes, she was a mess, still not used to how angelic-looking the other person was. She swore that she has never seen an angel walking on Earth, breathing the same air as her, just like that. Was that even legal to look like a model straight out the runway? âDamn,â was it really all she could say right now? Yes. Instead of attempting to say something again, Cheyenne settled for placing a small kiss to her loverâs lips. âYou know you didnât have to, right?â Alright, that was a cliche sentence everyone used, but she didnât expect to get such a sentimental gift like that.Â
âI didnât think of getting you anything,â she spoke up, breaking the silence. What a way to play it safe. Of course she did buy her girlfriend something, but it was way too early to reveal what it was. It would ruin the surprise, after all. Maybe it wasnât a thing sheâd suspect Chey to give her, but it was going to be worth it. Maybe life-changing, even. She prayed sheâs not going to be disappointed with her just because of that. âReady?â Quickly changing the topic, she held her hand out for Olivia to take.Â
Liv couldnât help but giggle slightly at Cheyenneâs reaction to how she looked. Making someone practically speechless was always a good way to go, after all. âDamn yourself.â She retorted, the smile still not leaving her face. Not that she expected it to tonight. She was always happy with her girlfriend, but tonight, celebrating their love, she felt overcome with emotions. In one respect, it felt wrong to feel so happy, after everything that had happened, but she knew her parents would want her to be happy. They always had wanted the best for her, and they loved Chey. When they first became official her mom had gushed about how she had been waiting for this day ever since they were little girls, protecting each other in the playground. She knew they would be proud of both of them, willing them to go the distance. Not that Olivia doubted that they would, in the slightest. She knew what she felt, and she could never see that feeling going away or fading at all. Every time she looked at the other woman she was overcome with just how beautiful she was, how perfectly fitting together they were.
âI know, but I wanted to.â Olivia smiled. She knew that Chey wasnât the biggest fan of presents, but she couldnât help herself. She wanted to be able to give something special, something that represented them and not some random present for the sake of giving presents. âI donât need anything, I have you.â Okay even Liv cringed at her own words, rolling her eyes at herself. âThat sounded a lot less cheesy in my head.â She tried to defend herself, even though it was too late. Nodding, she took Cheyenneâs hand, entwining their fingers.
The restaurant wasnât too far from their apartment, the joys of living in the city, so it didnât make sense for them to get a cab in the New York traffic, and it wasnât near any subway, so they had to make do with walking. Olivia just hoped her feet would survive the few blocks they had to walk. There was a sight chill in the air, a welcome one after the heat they had been having. As they walked, she couldnât help but think about the fact that they had both moved away from their hometown, at the other side of the world, and still managed to find each other in a city as huge as New York. She had never been more certain in her belief in fate before. The silence between them was comfortable, as it always was. It was nice to be able to just be in the company of someone, not expecting anything from the other, and just enjoying being, sometimes. She knew there was no-one else she would ever feel so like herself with, no-one else she would ever want to spend her life about. Just as she was about to start complaining about her feet hurting, they were in front of the restaurant. They were shown to their table in record time, and she couldnât help but grin. It really did pay to know people. The table was practically in a perfect location, to the side, so that they had enough privacy, but also not hidden away in a corner. She pulled out the chair for Chey first. âIâm pulling out all the stops tonight, just for you.â She joked, quickly pressing a kiss to her forehead before sitting down. She was always a physically affectionate person, she could hardly keep her hands to herself when it came to her girlfriend. In both senses, really.Â
