oh my god the klance/allurance ending in voltron is literally the exact same thing as the byler/mileven ending in stranger things im going to kill myself.

let’s see we got:

female character kills herself in order to stop the big bad war. she knew of the possibility and decided that’s what she needs to do for the good of the people

the two male characters have a conversation at high altitude that is ambiguous as all hell.

male character that is not with the female mc has to encourage the other member when it comes to their romantic relationship

female mc touches foreheads and kisses her love interest and he sobs as she leaves

she is now dead. at least dead to us. she could be out there, alive or maybe in some other way. we will absolutely never know.

said love interest spends the rest of his life in an oppressive and melancholy ending and dedicates himself to remembering his girlfriend

said love interest also has his entire character butchered and looses a lot of the reasons why he was so loved in earlier seasons

other member of the love triangle is ambiguously given an ending and lowkey robbed of anything of actual importance despite how important he was to the show

easy leeway for shippers to just ship the two guys in timeskip because the girl is dead

normalize queer media consultants. i genuinely think a lot of shows or movies that perpetuate harmful stereotypes are uneducated and unprepared and that is not a good excuse.

ONE consultant in the stranger things writers room couldve given us something better, even if the end result was still a rejection. noah could only advocate so much for it as an actor.

heated rivalry works so well because so many queer people and educated writers were involved in the process. they know what story they’re writing.

this industry is built to adapt to the viewer and they are not adapting like they should be, just focusing on the cash and attention the queer community can give. i will literally start this myself we need better understanding of queer storylines NOW.

I know byler didn’t happen and it’s perfectly fine to be disappointed but i still loved that episode and i still love stranger things. i DO feel satisfied. it’s over and i feel like it should be over.

we deserve better representation and i have so many problems with how they handled this, but stranger things is more than byler. we deserved byler and even though we didn’t get it, im not angry. at least the story has ended and it’s satisfying and we’re done.

besides, byler fanfic writers have SO much ammunition now. timeskip byler is soooo good guys just think about it.

im glad i experienced this with you guys. I never regret byler and i still love it and I always will. i will never feel stupid for liking byler or for wanting it to be canon. if you’re disappointed and angry I do not blame you, but I really did love the way they ended it. there’s loose ends, but i am satisfied.

i hope we may get a piece of media that can give us the representation and beautiful queer storyline that we so desperately need. stranger things just wasn’t it.

i am lowering expectations for my own sake but part of my truly and genuinely believes in byler endgame. the doubt is there but the hope hasn’t faded.

my main hope is there’s actual plot twists so i can get the theater experience im looking for. i need some crazy shit to happen 🙏
