Brow arches as he scans the area then the goddess before him. Hand raised from the hilt of sword to grasp prickly chin and rub in thought as he studied her, brow remaining high. she wasn't surprised that he refused. she wasn't asking, she was demanding and demanding a god such as he was sure to elicit the exact reaction she'd gotten. "and i'm not a miracle worker, nor am i lord hephaestus. if you want this fixed, you can either help or bring it to someone with more hands than i." fixing people had been her punishment calypso, fixing things at the very whims of the very gods who'd tossed her here was not in her job description.

The downfall to battle was the need for weapons. They never truly did last long unless he had already arranged something with Hephaestus to place an enchantment on the arsenal. Most times the god of war forgot to do so as he was usually caught up in the blood shed and chaos so easily. He was a simple being after all. So that brought him here, to Calypso who might as well have been asking him to balance the mortal's world atop his shoulders in that moment.

Ares listened to her with little to no interest, his eyes rolling into the back of skull as a prolonged and very exaggerated sight left parted lips. "Fiiiine..." he huffed after a moment, legs swinging off the workbench he had perched himself atop upon his arrival. Feet soon met the ground and he came to stand, hands smoothing out leather as he took slow strides towards the nymph. "What do you need help with?"

"Oh I've no doubt, but me handling you...well that's just more fun," the god smirked as eyes ran over the warriors form. They soon returned to piercing blue orbs as he took a step forward, cautiously and aware of Xena's hands and where they were placed. Though she couldn't ( nor would she though that might have been some wishful thinking on his part ) kill him, he didn't enjoy being stabbed let alone sliced by the chakram.

Ares knew how far he could push the woman, but he also liked pushing the boundary. To see if he could get his hooks into her further and further, hoping that each time they met it would be it. That she would finally return to him and the life that she was meant to live. She was the greatest war lord, warrior, destroyer of nations that he had ever seen in all his years. The way she could cut down an entire army it was...delicious and made him yearn for every battle that would follow soon after. It's been years now since he had seen the warrior princess in true action and there was a deep need, still, for him to bring her back to that path.

"But if you wish to handle yourself in my presence...I wouldn't object," Ares murmured, brows arching and lips down turning into a playful curious pout.

Soft snort of laugh is given; he must be joking. Granted, he may not be as active as he once was with medaling in things, but aggression was still his middle name. "Either you don't know who I am or you've forgotten who I am," he stated, slowly and punctuated each word. There would always be a very small and very quiet fear of the world forgetting who and what he was. That was a weakness to have, something that chipped away at his very being and meaning of being a god. So it would remain buried away in the deepest depths of his mind.

"Then again, maybe you've spent a little too long down below...running around in the underworld aimlessly...but the bastard had it comin'. He always did skimp on his offerings." With that, Ares' demeanor relaxed, an easy smile beginning to tug at lips as he looked to the demon. "Been a while since I've seen you top side."

The intimidating man stare continues, eyes scrunching up just a touch more. However, features relaxed after a moment and a slight roll of his eyes is given. He had always known that this one would be nothing but a thorn in his side and that's something she continues to prove right. Time and time again, there she is, trailing behind Xena, holding her back and it's quite annoying. Especially given his many plans that the annoying little blonde was keeping halted.

"Can't blame a man for trying," he mused with a small shrug, eyes wandering and looking elsewhere. They soon returned to Gabrielle, head canting to the side while tongue pressed against the side of cheek in thought. He could easily kill her and make it look like an accident, but Xena...Xena would know it was him. She already had enough to hate him for, he didn't need to add to it. Lips purse and pout before he begins to speak again, "I'm surprised to see you walking alone. Normally you're firmly locked in place at a certain warriors hip...she finally drop you?"

Spoken just as before and there's no surprise. Though he himself had never been reincarnated, he had seen it enough times. He knew it could be disorienting especially when the dreams hadn't began making much sense. Then again, visions of an old life that was nothing near being close to the life Natalie Scatorccio had lived would unsurprisingly leave the woman confused. But that's why he was there, to offer a hand, lend a shoulder, and maybe just give things a little nudge. He could be awfully impatient.

"Heebie jeebies..." Ares repeats with a small chuckle and shake of his head. "You've said something similar long ago to me once," he mused, smirk beginning to tug at the corner of lips. Though she did not resemble her former body, the god of war could see that spark. One that was distinctly his warrior princess and he knew it would only grow and turn into a raging fire once enough friction was given. "But I swear to you...everything I have told you, everything that your little friend has managed to find..." words trailed off with a slight eye roll because of course Gabrielle and her would find one another in this life, "is all true."
