I've wanted kayaks in game ever since I started working on Tørsvall, and when TS4 included it with Adventure Awaits, I could finally make it happen! (I'm definitely not an animator lol)
This is a new boat type for a single sim. It's fully functional with custom converted animations. It currently has no fishing interactions, but I'll probably convert those animations and include them in the future. There's an adult and smaller child version.
KNOWN ISSUES
» The "Boat Here With" interaction on the kayak object is still there, despite specifically removing it in the code... when you click it, the sim will end up using the water taxi or another multi-occcupancy boat.
» Idle/Paddling animations continue for a few seconds before transitioning to the next state.
» The transparency on the adult kayak looks kinda bad, but I can't seem to make it look better, sorry!
This small tutorial is for anyone who's having trouble with the key commands of the much needed mod Sims 3 Decorator Tools by @omedapixel
Since it was hinted months(?) ago, I've been eagerly waiting for the release. And it didn't disappoint. One thing though, as I recently realised that it can cause confusion on non-US keyboard users.
The reason keys '[' and ']' provided by the mod is not working is because the 'commands' are bound to the actual physical keys on your board and not to the symbols on the keys. For example, to rotate the camera I use two keys right next to the M key, and the symbols on them are just letters in my language and not the US Keyboard symbols.
To fix the issue, first look at your own keyboard and detect the letters P, L and M. These letters are usually where letters end and symbols start on US keyboard. In any variation of QWERTY for some other languages there may/will be extra letters on the keyboard.
What you will do is note the keys next to 'Enter', RShift and sometimes the Arrow keys on your keyboard and whatever is next to them. The trick is to select the physical keys and not the symbols on them. It will be slightly different on every keyboard depending on your language variation.
In theory, anything between P,L,M and Enter, RShift, Arrow Keys should work.
So, if you have '.' or ',' next to your Enter key that is the key -not the symbol- you will use to send things up or down. In a way, your own '[' or ']'. After you decide upon two physical keys on your keyboard to use with up10cm and down10cm commands of the mod, you will go look at the US Keyboard Layout and detect those two physical keys and what's labelled on them.
You will use whatever symbols are on the keys of US Keyboard, in the mod's TRIG resource. Then add 'Shift' variants for 1cm up & down. You need to take notes of the keys and what symbols they have on your keyboard because they will be different from the US layout.
In case you're confused about the whole process - I'm not sure if I explained it well - I'm also pasting the values I have changed in TRIG resource and they work fine for me. You will still need to find what symbol is there on your keyboard for a US '/', though.
/ = MoveUp10CM -> . on my keyboard
' = MoveDown10CM -> a special letter on my keyboard
shift / = MoveUp1CM
shift ' = MoveDown1CM
q = ResetHeight
shift 8 = MoveForward5CM
shift 5 = MoveBackward5CM
shift 4 = MoveLeft5CM
shift 6 = MoveRight5CM
shift d = EnableDecoratorMode
control 8 = TiltForward
control 5 = TiltBackward
control 4 = TiltLeft
control 6 = TiltRight
shift q = ClearSelected
control alt 4 = TurnLeft
control alt 6 = TurnRight
You can try these first as a base and maybe move on from there. It's a 'try and see if it works' kind of thing, really. I also changed the numpad values to regular number keys on my keyboard because I don't have a numpad. If the numpad works for you, don't touch those. And remember, keys you enter in the TRIG resource are not the symbols you will press on your keyboard. I noted down the symbols and what they do on a paper so I wouldn't forget.
NOTE: Don't use 'q' unless you also use Awesomemod, since I believe it will quit the game. 😅 I use Awesomemod and I use 'q' key to reset the height.
I hope this helps and if you have questions, just ask either in the comments or as an ask, or just DM me - whichever you prefer. I will make additions to the post if needed.
I think I made it more complicated than it really is with my little tutorial on this one. I'd like to try again. :)
My first advice for anyone who want to edit the TRIG resource themselves is to find the model of your keyboard/laptop and try to find a picture of the keyboard with a US mapping. This might give you a clearer picture.
As an example I edited a picture of my keyboard with US mapping. These are the keys I press on my keyboard with the changes I made to TRIG resource. The only difference is the symbols I have on these keys are different. The symbols you see in this picture are the symbols I added to the TRIG resource.
Notice that I haven't changed the scaler switcher and the scale up & down keys. Only the '0' key is the same as my non-US keyboard mapping. But the placements make sense so I left them be. Also Numpad keys are assigned to regular numbers, so if you don't have a numpad it will be useful. Check the S3DT manual for what numbers do, they are the same numbers - just not numpad keys.
These are the changes I made in the TRIG resource that I'm going to share as requested by @adriaacn. There are 2 versions: The old 1.2 version and the new 2.1 version with the scaler. Please, only download the version you are using. I don't know why anyone would want the old version of S3DT but just in case I'm sharing that one as well. The archive is a 7z hopefully it's alright. If you want a zip version just leave a comment, I guess.
There is a readme.txt that you should read. It has the instructions on how to import the TRIG resource into the package that you already have. There is no reason for me to re-upload the whole package since I don't own it and it's perfectly online. Hope you'll understand.
So, to make it clear:
if you have the old 1.2 version of S3DT download this;
if you have the latest 2.1 version of S3DT download this.
Merry Christmas to all those who celebrate! Can you believe it's been 2 years since I released the original S3DT ?! 😮
This version brings the long awaited SCALING, as well as hotkeys for changing presets and a few other little things. Please take time to read through all the instructions. See THIS post for information about the rest of this mod.
These new hotkeys will only work when in Decorator Mode (Shift + D), similar to the other hotkeys. For some reason, the "Create Scaler" hotkey only works when moveobjects on is enabled.
PRESET SWITCHING
To switch between presets, pick up an object and use either (;) or (') keys (see diagram above) to move forward/backward. This will work with custom objects like paintings with lots of images, and also different patterns, including user saved presets!
SCALING
This mod uses a custom object to scale objects. You can buy it in Surfaces, Misc or use the hotkey (/) (see diagram) to create one immediately. Place your object on the scaler, and then pick up the scaler, not the object. Use hotkey (-) to make the object smaller and (=) to make it larger. To move your object, make sure to always pick up the scaler and apply any other transformations (rotation, changing height) to the scaler. The object will still be usable, and the scaler will disappear in live mode.
Made the object so big you can't select the scaler anymore? Simply pick up the object in the slot, press 0 and it will switch the hand tool to the scaler so you can continue to move it.
NOTES & ISSUES WITH SCALING
When placing, sometimes it says "Location out of bounds", simply rotate or use MoveObjects on to get around this.
Sim animations will often look weird when using scaled objects.
Modular objects and certain large appliances will NOT scale.
Objects with slots and effects will also apply scaling to any objects placed in those slots, and the effects. So if you have a giant dining table, you'll get a giant chairs. Tiny fountain = tiny fountain effects.
Trees and bushes can technically be scaled, but its more of a compression of the leaves in and out, rather than proper scaling. You can do some cool stuff with this though!
If you have a scaler scaled to say, 200% and then clone that scaler, the new scaler will also be at 200%
EXTRA BUILD/BUY INTERACTIONS
These can be accessed by Shift + Clicking on any object in Build/Buy mode.
1. Remove Footprint - Removes the footprint from an object, allowing sims to walk through it or use other objects that would otherwise be blocked. This will remain even after you save and quit.
2. Disable Snow on Object - Disables snow on an object. Only for decorative objects, as functionality will be removed when you use this.

Hotkey to cycle forward/backwards through presets! 🎉
Scaling with hotkeys! It DOES require a custom omsp-like object, but the difference is a) you can interact with the object still and b) it's one single object for multiple sizes

Excuse the video, hope you guys understand what i’m trying to show! In the last section, the chair is scaled up which is way the sitting animation is janky, just wanted to show that the objects are still usable, though a little funny looking
I tried so SO hard to create a way to scale objects up and down without the need for a custom object, but it seems impossible :( Hopefully this will work well enough for everyone!
i’d like everyone’s opinion on something! so with this scaler (and the original omsp resizers) FRIDGES, STOVES & COUNTERS cannot be scaled. this is something that is hardcoded in.
i can fix it, BUT that would mean the new update of S3DT would require monopatcher.
so how important is it to you guys? could you live without scaling those objects, or would you rather i fixed it?
Hello. For your S3DT mod, will you be adding a resizer feature to it one day? Like the "One More Slot Please Resizer" does?
hi! yep, i’m adding that in the next update you can see a preview here - https://www.tumblr.com/omedapixel/800739523920330752/decorating-tools-20-sneak-peak

a couple of new plants! lemon tree and death flower, as well as overrides for custom plants cauliflower and broccoli (by @icemunmun-spicy-scalpel)
in fun news i figured out how to give plants custom soil, so now carrots can be in cute little individual soils in a row! need to fix the bones so they sit a bit lower in the ground, but i think it looks nice :)
since the death flower isn't a real life thing, i had to come up with what the plant should look like. do you guys think this looks alright?
"Tucked away in the stunning Alps, Felsdorf is a quaint mountain village located by the shimmering Erzsee. Surrounded by towering snow-covered peaks and lush forests, this idyllic village offers breathtaking views in every direction. Its traditional wooden chalets, cobblestone streets, and flower-lined balconies embody the charm of Alpine life. In winter, Felsdorf transforms into a ski paradise, while in summer, the Erzsee offers the perfect spot for fishing, swimming, and relaxing by the water. Whether you’re seeking adventure on the slopes or peace by the lake, Felsdorf combines natural beauty with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere."
With winter slowly approaching, I thought it would be a good time to release my newest world "Felsdorf". Inspired by my home area Tyrol, Austria, jump into a semi-realistic alpine mountain world with lots of things to discover! All Expansion-Packs are used and all Base-Game spawners are in the world.
Once again, thank you to all the amazing CC-creators out there, this world would have not been possible with your creation. Like my last world, there is a merged file included with CC I am allowed to include. The rest you have to download yourself, it's not much!
Also total gamechanger, s3 decorater tool by @omedapixel! I was able to give my houses a much more realistic touch with that, so if you want to try that too or correct something, go check it out!
IMPORTANT: Mega deleted my old account lol, so my old world and the new one are now together because the CC amount is the same.
-For my old world you need a save file. The new one is populated from the start (figured it out how to do that)
-For some reason, the CC doors at the Felsdorf gym needs to be placed again, so sims can enter it. Just grab it with the hand tool and plop it down again.
Like always, instructions are included and if you have a question or need help, feel free to ask!
I didn't do the traditional simblreen gift giving this year because I honestly thought it wouldn't be ready in time, but here it is! Default replacements for all the pies from the 'Deliciously Indulgent Bakery' store set :)
Due to the nature of the EA code, when cooking any of the 'lattice' pies, it will use the same texture no matter the flavour. Once they're plated, they'll revert to their proper textures tho! The 'cream' pies each have proper cooking textures.

BONUS: please look at how sad the original pies were 😭
working on an adorable little hiking hut in torsvall based on the álftavötn hut in iceland! it's isolated away from the town and only accssible via hiking trails. can't wait to show you guys the inside, it´s so cosy !!
i've been working on the aquarium! i've been retexturing a lot of the fish to better match the northern climate of tørsvall, and when i couldn't edit the jellyfish to be moon jellyfish, i ended up making a new effect!
Hi! I don't know if you've been notified about this, but in the last update I found a conflict between the mod and lavender seeds (there may be a conflict with other seeds, I haven't checked), it's impossible to plant a seedling, when trying to plant a seed, the character freezes and goes home (nraas error trap is triggered)
If anyone has a similar problem, I will be glad to receive an answer and learn how to solve it.
I think what happened is I made a mistake in the latest xml, sorry! I’m working on the lavender replacement, but it’s not finished so I didn’t include it, BUT i forgot to remove the reference to the model in the xml 😅
I’ll get it fixed asap, thanks for letting me know!
Reworked glacier (which needs a name!) and a new waterfall area. There's a waterfall over the cave, which hopefully will be routable so sims can go behind it! Plan to have a cute little house+cafe on the left if the river for hikers to stop in and enjoy the views :)
The right part is a section of cliffs with a couple of rock climbing objects! I'm really excited about it, made a little map and everything
I had a crazy idea to sculpt & paint some terrain in CAW and then turn it into a distant terrain object for Tørsvall. I think I love it! Needs a bit of extra work, but I like how you have beautiful views from the fishing village, and eventually the rest of the rural areas.
Will probalbly upload the CAW files for the distant terrain at some point, if anyone wants to turn it into a proper world, i think it'd look really cool!
