I don’t care if he’s terribly, outrageously mid in the eyes of the Genshin-playing Hazbin-Hoteling Gojo-thumping public. I will continue to talk about him like he’s the most revolutionary thing to happen to this planet, like it’s a crime against God that the greater population isn’t acknowledging the pure magnificence that was at play when he was created. And that’s not out of disrespect to everything or everyone else that I see. I’d like to think, in my heart of hearts, that I give it all an equal chance. I cried at the movies shared with me, I binged through the shows that friends and family insisted were too good to put down. But I could live for ten thousand years, make ten thousand posts about him that go viral, and I wouldn’t care what anybody across the globe says in response if it isn’t taking a second to love and appreciate the insignificant detail that prompted me to speak at all. The one person under that post that recognizes who I’m talking about? That’s what my love of the game is for. In the end of the day, when I’m laying in bed, falling asleep to the thought of him? A lot of people have never had a friendship like that before. And that, I think, is what it means to have your life saved by art.
