The first question that came to my mind was how does it work, if it is "full of shit"? Then I thought, does gender equality mean "full of shit"? Is the idea of oppress "full of shit"? Is the idea that empowering women "full of shit"?
This is Rape Culture.
My response to this is that this is exactly how people in society go back and forth on what feminist believe and the assumptions that go along with being a feminist. Reading this post made me upset because yes men do get sexually harassed, but if you take a real look at society the percentage of men who get harassed and the percentage of women who get harassed there is a huge difference. People need to stop justifying violence because it has to one culture group. Nobody should be afraid to walk home or go for a run because they may get raped. Rape is a serious matter and the amount of cases of rape and attempted rape is not okay. Statistics show that as of 2013 89,000 rape cases has been reported.16% of women have experienced rape or attempted rape; on the other hand, 3% of men have experienced rape or attempted rape. We need to stop lashing out at each other and fix this issue and stop blaming it on each other and on common sense!
A picture I saw when I went to Africa. I have this picture as my laptop background ad it just reminds me of the memories I made and what I learned on this trip. Also, it just actions are a big thing in life and we should make each action count for the best <3
Don’t ever compliment me by insulting other women. That’s not a compliment, it’s a competition none of us agreed to.

Some people believe this is the real idea behind feminism
Mainstream feminism condones the hatred of men. Prominent feminists have openly made hateful anti-male statements and the feminist organizations do nothing to distance themselves from these.
Some people believe feminism has the basis idea that it is for women to portray their hatred of men. Which is not true it wants to promote gender equality!
An Issue I Relate To
Tumblr topic: Suicide
Why it interests you: This topic interests me because myself and others I know went through situations that caused them to be depressed. Personally I did not go to substance or alcohol abuse, but thoughts did come across my head and I had to overcome that situation as well as my thoughts to get where I am today.
3 facts about their topic:
1. President Obama overturned the White House policy of not sending condolence letters to family members of military men/women who committed suicide while deployed
2. Depression can lead two alcohol and/or substance abuse as well as suicide.
3. In 2006, suicide was the 11th leading cause of death in the U.S. claiming 33,300 lives per year.
Explain how it relates you your life today: This topic relates to my life because I could have been a statistic, but I overcame my problems. Some people don't have that opportunity and people need to become aware of their actions and how it affects people
Celebrated annually on 8 March, the 2014 theme for International Women’s Day is: “Equality for women is progress for all”. This year, International Women's Day will be commemorated at UN headquarters in New York on 7 March, on the eve of the 58th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women which begins on 10 March.
This event is held March 8th annually to acknowledge women and promote equality. Is one day enough?
I Am In Love With Remixes..LOL
For one of the generative writings that helped with our recent research papers, I wrote a letter to a southern male in his early 20s. Now there is more I want to say, but in a different way.
Remix:
Dear Southern Male in his early 20s,
If you have a sister, girlfriend, or even a wife you would want the best for her, right? She would be your support system and you would be her support system. You will help her when she is struggling with something, encourage her to keep pushing and give it her all. Wouldn't you want your sister, girlfriend, or wife to have equal opportunities as men? As her brother, boyfriend, or husband you have to let her know she has potential and she should pursue whatever she loves and to never doubt herself. If you say yes to my previous questions and agree with my previous sentences then don't you believe feminism is an issue. Feminism is not about hating men or pushing men down; it is about encouraging equality for women. Your sister should be able to have the same chance of entering a spelling bee as the boy sitting next her in her class. Your girlfriend or wife should have the same chance of receiving an interview to be a CEO of a company as the male applicant. Women should not have to worry that they did or did not get hired ONLY because they are a women.
Sincerely,
A Concerned Woman
Jessica Rey presents the history of the evolution of the swimsuit including the origins of its design, how it has changed overtime and the post-feminist association of the bikini symbolizing female empowerment. She refers to neuro-scientific studies revealing how male brains react to images of scantily clad women versus images of women deemed modest and what the implications of the results are for women in society.
(Note: As the OP, I disagree with Rey’s approach to putting the onus on women to alter ourselves rather than to alter the male perception of women – brain wiring has plenty to do with socialization and if we worked against the culture that fuels men’s objectification of women, women’s clothing choices would matter far less in terms of how men perceive us and determine how to interact with us).

Media plays a huge role in society, but when will media not dismiss a woman's idea just because she is a woman? When will women and men be able to have the same higher position, and the thought that the woman got there because she went through something in her life? Is it okay that media gives girls and women the image that a women is supposed to be tall with nice legs, a flat stomach, and nice boobs and a big ass? Why can't we focus on the uniqueness of women? Why are women so quickly to be judged?
Growing up in New York City, where there are news stands with hundreds of magazines and newspapers, i remember always seeing a bunch of magazines such as playboy, maxim and many other adult entertainment magazines. I would always ask my parents how come i never saw girls that sexy in the street. I always also hoped i would eventually marry one of the girls from the magazines.
I know im not the only boy who fantasized about these girls at a young age and it definitely changes how young boys perceive women and sex.
When you think of who is on the cover of these magazines so many people view daily, what comes to mind? It should not be understood that many women are half naked on the front of covers, or that it is easy for there to be a great correlation between women and sex. Magazines that magnify a women's body rather than their goals, are sending a message that women should be viewed a certain way. Magazines, music videos, and even social media has an impact on how men look at women. We are not only made up of our physical appearance. We have goals and passions, so treated us like an object should not be the case. It is much easier to find a half naked women on a magazine or website than a man, it is unfair!
REMIXX
A sense of calm washes over me and I feel weightless as I am enveloped into the warm, welcoming family of voices rising up together. When I stand in church around five-six other people; all I see is a church. The faces; the lady that always sits in the front row with her hats always matching her outfit AND shoes. Singing in my gospel choir relieves my stress and channels my energy, helping me clear my mind and relax. After a long day of school and work, my choir instructor tells me, “Do not be afraid to let go with a purpose.” I can apply this advice both to my singing and my academics. In school when I have a challenging assignment or test in my AP Calculus class, I know that I need to approach it with an open mind and all of my effort, energy and knowledge. I let go with a purpose and am not held back by fear or limitations. The joy I get from expressing myself through song and through God gives me many gifts that I can only hope to return in my performance.
This song empowers women to view themselves as someone who is powerful. Beyonce says, "'Im reppin' for the girls who taking over the world/Help me raise a glass for the college grads/I work my 9 to 5, better cut my check/This goes out to all the women getting it in, you're on your grind/To other men that respect what I do/Please accept my shine/Boy I know you love it/How we're smart enough to make these millions/Strong enough to bear the children/Then get back to business"
Here Beyonce is saying girls/women are working hard and can do a lot then what they are getting credit for. Also, men need to respect what women are achieving.
Reblog if you’re a feminist!
Don’t be ashamed of your story, it will inspire others.
I have not yet talked about this side of my topic; addiction. There are tons of people in the world addicted to alcohol; alcoholic’s. Would lowering or raising the drinking age effect problems this country has had to deal with dealing with alcoholism? Lowering the drinking age would allow younger people to experience alcohol at a younger age giving them more of a chance to develop a tolerance and create alcoholism. But it could also help the generation because if it was in your family’s history you would be able to catch it maybe earlier on?
This connects to my issue because there is a barrier on women and men equality. So many people have stories of their life and how they got to where they wanted to be in life. Women have stories. I have a story, and i should not be ashamed of it. No women should be ashamed of their story because it is apart of them, but it doesn't make them. A life with a story is a life that was lived
