“Explicit queer representation in anime would be nice”
Well, legalized gay marriage in Japan would be nicer. Especially since the ban was recently declared “unconstitutional” yet there are still laws keeping gay marriage inaccessible (source) (source)
Sk8 TikTok enrages me. Maybe you need to push aside your westernized savior complex and think critically as to why anime doesn’t have explicit queer representation outside of yaoi (which is gays for the straights btw, and some of y’all need to reevaluate your thoughts on that)

I do want explicit queer representation, believe me, I do. However, the issue isn’t whether or not two anime boys kiss, but more on how society views queer people and how that bleeds into the media, which is a factor that many people tend to overlook because they live in a bubble
