Outlast Trials HC’s - PA’s perfume/scent
Mother Gooseberry; Apple, jollyrancher-type, cotton candy, sugar. EXTRA- Doctor. Futterman; Toothpaste, dust, old feathers.
I based Mother Goosberry’s off of the “Fun Park” map. It mainly makes sense to me because I feel like she likes to lean more into childish things—wanting to make the children around her feel comfortable(even if they aren’t real). During her time on her TV show, she definitely wore some cotton candy-type scent. The smell is both sweet, and comforting. Also.. I feel like she prefers to smell strongly, because her face mask definitely smells like rot and decay.
Franco Barbi; Leather, spices, milk.
Franco’s masculinity is definitely fragile, and he likes to use “mature men” scents to cover it. He probably stole the scents from what his father used to wear, thinking that maybe it would make his father like him more—and he could fit in around his father’s mafioso buddies. As for the milk part, I like to think it’s a comfort for him. During trials Franco will suck his thumb, whine, and throw tantrums—age regressing is a term i’d like to use, even if in the timeline the trials are set, that term doesn’t exist yet.
Leland Coyle; Musk, leather, tobbaco.
Coyle likes to have a “signature scent”. The smell is so strong, it could probably burn your nostrils if you get too close. The smell makes him feel more masculine, authoritative. Also, he likes to have people register that scent as his own. During trials, Reagents most likely associate those smells with him, and when he comes close; the alarm bells go off in their head. He likes that, the chase.
Otto, Arora Kress; Jasmine, vanilla, sandalwood.
These scents are associated to be “rich”; not just in the price, but also in smell. Considering how.. musty the other PA’s, Ex-Pop, and Reagents smell, they definitely like to take pride in being more pleasant smelling than the rest. But also, the scents are strong. Considering Otto’s body weight, he definitely gets extremely sweaty when he moves around too much—especially in the neck area, considering the folds(also where Arora’s sex is located—female sex gives off a smell when sweaty)and the fact that Arora is held up around that area as well, so they definitely radiate an odor. It makes them feel more secure to smell strongly.
Liliya Bogomolova; Lavender, cinnamon, incense.
Liliya attracts people. Not just with her words, but also her smell. She likes to radiate acceptance, welcoming, comfort—the scents listed above are typical described as “comfort scents”, and she uses that to her advantage. In most her of voice lines(Ex; “I’m with you”, “You don’t have to be scared anymore”, “I’ll take care of you”), she’s attempting to guide you towards her with words of comfort. But it’s not just her words that comfort—it’s also her smell. Would you step towards her if she smelled musty? I don’t think so. And the scent tactic is definitely working, in files, she’s already converted doctors, scientists and Reagents to her cause. No one is safe.
