Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
This opens up a lot of possibilities for what a haiku can be
as a child there's nothing cooler than a kid who gets subjected to evil experiments and gains special abilities. it's even cooler if these abilities also cause unfathomable suffering to use/against others. children love stories like this.
Here is a list of places you can buy this thing if you are so inclined: https://linktr.ee/effiecalvin
do you have the courage to write a terrible first draft?
the authors barely disguised longing for acceptance
trying to piece together my mutual's oc story from posts tagged as the character
when you use a word and wonder if you used it right and you check and you correctly pulled an uncommon 3rd or 4th definition
I've decided that Bellamy (still waffling on the name, tbh, though we're leaning towards this) is going to be an astonishingly good cook. It might've been because I was hungry as fuck all day yesterday, but I think it also suits his character; everyone who learns it is surprised, and then immediately like 'ah yeah that tracks'.
Plus, it means I get to write shit like this:
"Feel free to add extras." Bellamy nudged some small bowls in her direction. "Chilli. Coriander. Crunch."
"'Crunch'?" Harper eyed the bowl of what appeared to be deep-fried pencil shavings. "What is crunch? Why do these two get names but you can't tell me what that one is?"
Bellamy raised his eyebrows. "It's crunch. C'mon, Pennington, what are you so worried about? I've seen your file, I know you're not allergic to anything. And I have much more efficient ways to kill you than poison."
Harper added crunch.
having ocs is so fucked .... i miss them so bad but im the guy who has to create new content. but im sleepy
Memo to everybody :
Never be afraid to recycle an idea you had for a WIP you abandoned. Sometimes the idea needs a different set of characters or a different setting.
An addition:
Never be afraid to recycle an idea you had for a project you already completed. Sometimes ideas really are just that good and deserve to be used more than once.
Don't be afraid to use the same recipe to make a new cake
hey guys check out my new writing setup
writing goals for 2026 ✨
to write
in 2026 DO NOT ask yourself whether your art is GOOD
instead ask:
is it SINCERE
was it CATHARTIC
was it FUN TO MAKE
is it MADE BY ME
and don't forget to stay silly
1. how many people will buy rentalcar
2. how many of those people will buy directly from me a signed copy with free stickers
3. how many sticker sheets should I print. how many sticker sheets should I print. how many sticker sheets should I print
4. maybe I'll start with a small amount and order more if I need them?
5. maybe I should do a limited sticker run.....
6. maybe I should buy Six Billion Stickers
STICKERS ARE EXPENSIVE, SMALL BATCH IT IS AND MORE WILL BE ORDERED AS NEEDED
I think my book will be available to buy on the Internet But if you want a signed copy and stickers you gots to email me and let me mail you a copy myself. I don’t want to set up a ko-fi or anything that's scary. and I want to be able to communicate directly with you. hey! I'm waiting on a sticker order! or! hey! I'm a bit swamped right now but you can expect your order in two weeks! etc etc etc ekekekekek
I don't want to make it TOO easy to get a signed copy with stickers 'cause I gotta personally pack and mail those bad boys out and I'm just a lil guy. your honour I'm just a lil guy
I don't know if any of this helps with your plans, but pointing out the following just in case...
RK Ashwick @ashen-crest offered a sticker, a bookmark, and a hand written thank you note to anyone who pre-ordered their books (we didn't have to order directly from her) which would have, obviously, reduced the postage strain for her dramatically as she was just sending an envelope. (Also pointing out, that hand written note was such a ridiculously cute incentive for me to preorder every damn book. Don't know why, it just did something nice to my brain!)
Borrowing from that idea, I've had some Bookplates made up with my author branding on them that I can sign and send so that anyone who wants a signed copy of my books can, while I don't have to shoulder the shipping costs.
Sticker prices; I had my bookplates made up (which are essentially just stickers) at Vistaprint, and I got 120 for about £32. Which works out to something like 26pence per bookplate.
Alternatively for something like diecut stickers or vinyl stickers, etc. More fancy stuff for the actual STICKER gift thing... I've been recommended, repeatedly in author groups, Sticker Mule for both price and quality. I've not tried them out personally yet, however, I'm getting my artwork for my sticker done, hopefully, end of the year.
I highly rec customstickers.com - I've found them to be cheaper than StickerMule and I still like the quality!
And yeah, sending out an envelope is way cheaper than sending out full book mail. It makes it far easier to service international readers as well, and almost half my DfaD pre-order goodies went to international readers this time around. To do that, I set up a form people could fill out (a Cognito Forms page linked from my website) with their shipping info after they pre-ordered. You can make them provide proof of pre-order as part of the form, if you want, but for the past few books, I haven't bothered.
(And, if people didn't want to provide a physical address but still wanted something, I also sent along a digital gift to their email, so no one's left out!)
so, the Sarkja have six genders, one for each element present in their beliefs, which are assigned based on which of the six cycles someone is born in. The elements are: air, light, fire, earth, ice, and water
working out pronouns for each that work in the Sarkjyn language-
air: arw/arwn/arws (ah-roo)
light: ly/lyt/lys (lee)
fire: ffe/ffer/ffes (feh)
earth: åddå/åddår/åddås (oh-[voiced]th-oh)
ice: øso/øsor/øsos (uh-saw)
water: itw/itwn/itws (ih-too)
Maaziariitna’s genders are fire and earth. Have yet to decide if either of those are ffes agab.
what if ATDAO two books are just printed together in the same book. one of those where you can finish one story then flip the book around and read the other
HOW would I even selfpub that. how print
for ebooks i have no idea BUT for print i would export the two parts separately as pdfs, turn part 2 upside down, and then combine the two!
