𝚆𝙰𝚂 𝙸𝚃 𝙰 𝙲𝚄𝚁𝚂𝙴 𝙾𝚁 𝙱𝙻𝙴𝚂𝚂𝙸𝙽𝙶 𝚃𝙾 𝙽𝙴𝙸𝚃𝙷𝙴𝚁 𝚂𝙴𝙴 , 𝙽𝙾𝚁 𝙵𝙴𝙴𝙻 ; nor to be whole with a world that wished to be whole ? she grasped at straws to rationalize the irrational. the unknown slipped and disappeared from her cupped hold, mostly intangible to even those who willingly tried to touch. all her earned laurels, her grandeur draped in her fools-golden elegance, her collected wisdoms, amounted to naught in light of eldritch realities she now knew existed, but was as quickly removed from as she was drawn into them. mayhaps, the most logical way for her to proceed after the fact, was to assume that no such entities haunted her to this extent. his extent. that none of them gathered around her and embodied what she had chosen to holographically display, glorified pride weaponizing the qualities she was shallowly admired for. but even if oblivious to what he spotted, she blinked twice, sincerely curious ( and admittedly perplexed ) “ autograph ? whose autograph ? ” asked she, and the ghosts behind her must have laughed, rasp through the faint veils, white noise she was deaf to. “ are you seeing things again that i can’t ? ”
and a self-imposed blame wrapped her heart like a present just to extend it to the extraordinary few she did not quite fathom. she wished she was better. overall. at understanding, at feeling and seeing, yet she'd been only a girl, blind and numb to the phantasmal, crowned with useless laurels. she wished she was better at courage when the brain desperately scraped some few memories out of its synapses as if they were decay inside a tooth. she probed the discomfort, still, every morning. would let it be when she spent time with her circumstantial friend as he whimsically repaired himself. would endure the memory soon as his features brightened and he reverted his ill-disguised melancholy into the innocence of a child full of wonder and amazement for the simplest things. a part of her protested against her awareness towards her own inabilities, and opted for the delusion that in some way, even for a small fraction of a moment, she could protect it. that wonder, that innocence.
