Happy Birthday Kids Next Door!
Okay so it was actually yesterday I’m just a day late. But 10 years ago from yesterday, the very first episode of Kid Next Door aired. I was 10 years old when the show first appeared on TV, and while I guess I’m technically an adult now I still have fond memories of this wonderfully imaginative show. The world was creative, the characters were diverse and memorable, and the stories had a good balance of humor, action, and heart.
KND has a special place in my heart because I actually got to meet the creator in person and tour the studios while it was still in production. I still recall seeing posters of KND hamsters and the Vitruvian Numbuh 1 while walking around. It was my first glimpse into the whole animation process, I got to see storyboards, backgrounds, and things of that nature. I have no doubt in my mind that this magical day provided some of my inspiration towards becoming an animator myself. And here I am today, in my Junior year of college, studying animation.
So thanks KND, and happy 10th anniversary~ May you have your cake (or the Delightful Children’s) and eat it too!
