This week was stressful, so this Saturday morning I relaxed a bit and watched ‘Wallander’. My mental health really needed that (I was also feeling a little bit sick and not productive at all). The afternoon was more productive. I’ve worked on some physics and right now I enjoy my cappuccino, chemistry homework and some music 😌☕️💛

Motivation is overrated. No amount of motivation would’ve gotten me through hours of my accounting textbook. No “vision” is enough to keep me awake til the crack of dawn on an essay that I don’t even know if the professor will check. Discipline is what determines how far you go. On those days when your cute little list of #goals and vision of yourself 5 years from now aren’t enough, discipline will pull you out of bed and get you to work. I wish I knew this in high school because I thought I couldn’t work without motivation. I wasted so much time trying to find purpose before I realized that working now, albeit blindly, will ensure that I could chase any purpose I discover in the future. Sure, motivation is crucial, but it’s not consistent. It’s not reliable. You can only rely on yourself and your grit.

Spent the morning organising, now I’m buckling down to study for my exams. I submitted my last essay of the semester last night, and now I have two exams over the next 10 days (how amazing is that?) before I finish the semester 😊✨

Hit 500 followers today and am so ridiculously grateful to, and overwhelmed by this wonderful community. This past year has been one of the toughest yet – I started at a new university in a new country with none of my support structure near me and was pushed way out of my comfort zone. It was a year of challenging myself and my limits, a year of hard work, happiness, rewards and also big disappointments. I have learned so much about myself and grown with the help of the studyblr community – you guys inspire me to do better and be better every single day. 

This blog is called On The Threshold because I had actually wanted to call it “In Limine” (a legal point relating to technical points made before a trial begins) but settled for the Latin translation “on, or at, the threshold.” It resonates with me because I feel that as a student, I am on the threshold, on the precipice, on the edge, of achieving my goals and making it to where I want to be. I know I can make it there with hard work, dedication, and now with the constant love and support I get from this community. I hope to give back, and to both help inspire some of you, as well as support you, so that you can step out beyond the threshold and achieve your goals and dreams <3 I back you. I know we can do it together. Thank you for backing me.
