One of the characteristics of the pandemic has been that the days have tended to blur into each other. I was convinced for most of the day that it was a Thursday, but apparently it was Wednesday, although I’m now writing this on Thursday morning, just to confuse me further. Popping round to my wife’s mums’ house would not normally be an especially notable event, but this marked the first time we had been in anyone else’s house for over 3 months. An excellent start to the day when I got in the car to head off for our weekly supermarket shop, turned the key, and got an awful noise instead of the purr of the engine (I inadvertently made the woman I spoke to on the phone at the RAC laugh by attempting to do an impression of this noise). One call out later, a replacement battery, and £139 gone, just like that.
