Her name is Persephone

Kore is the sweetness of spring, the flowers, and the sun’s return. The wildness of vines and dandelions acting as rebellion in the face of the harvest’s neatness and rows and order. Kore is hand-picked berries, defrosted streams sparkling clear and sweet. Ripened fruit stolen off tree branches, decorating sun-kissed skin. The west Zephyrus’s soft touch and delicious scent named the bringer of spring for carrying her chariot. Kore is the maiden, light as laughter in the willows and bright as the festivals that welcome her. 

But Persephone is the strength of spring. Hurtling winds flattening the willows and breaking the trees who refuse to bend. Devastated crop rows when quiet rebellion isn’t enough. Rewriting rivers, cleansing the air and the earth through brute strength and force alone. Demanding Zeus's lightning. Commanding the Anemoi. Zephyrus may carry her chariot, but his brothers fell to her demands just as swiftly, dancing to the movements of her baton to form symphonies of twisters and hurricanes. The Storm Season’s destruction is every bit as much her work as the delights she brings in winter’s wake. 

Kore was the Bringer Of Destruction long before she was Queen.

As a Sad Academic Bitch™

The best decision I ever made was befriending kids at school that have like no academic interests.

Because they learned a while ago that their self worth is more than a scantron or a transcript. And as someone who’s based her entire sense of self on those for the past 13 years, it’s something I struggle with. So when I’m genuinely devistated by a shitting grade (I cried 5 times today over a Chem test i bombed), they remind me that there’s more to me than that single test. And unlike my Fellow Academic™ friends, I can tell them what my shitty scores are without feeling judged. So befriend the chill kids in your Gen Ed or Elective classes, they’ll mean the world to you.
