surprised brows shot upwards at her tone; neither one of those were his intentions. for a second, he simply considers getting up and leaving without another word ---- his presence was obviously under unnecessary scrutiny.       “ would you believe you’re the first? ” there’s jovial warmth in his response as he angles himself towards the stranger, having picked up on the faint difference in her laugh now from the one she’d given him initially. his gaze is piercing, interested, though not intrusive as he studies her before offering his hand in greeting. “ athalos. it’s a pleasure to meet you. ”

The elf turned his attention towards the young man, merely a child for his elven eyes and he smiled back in obvious amusement, gaze falling on the bread. Aetheil’s bread was the best he had ever had, probably because it tasted like home but the boy had him curious. “It depends if you are able persuade me into believing such words.”

oh, wow. color him stunned ---- he’d somehow managed to actually hold the elf’s genuine interest with the bread in his hand. ( he’s excited now: someone of importance was paying him close mind. ) “ WELL ; to be quite honest, i may not. However, “ athalos began, pulling the piece of bread from the table to the space between them as if it were a reverent artifact of old. “ ------ i have been attempting to enchant this piece of bread with a health regeneration spell. if it works, i feel as though i might have a chance at actually making my claim true. ”

Her question was, of course, expected. mischief dances across brown orbs as he rolls the bread between his fingertips, expression far too gleeful over something that was clearly NOTHING out of the ordinary.  “ i am. how do i know it’s the finest? see, because i don’t particularly feel quite hungry. “  a shrug, then; “ to whomever hasn’t had a bite of anything to eat today, this is the finest bread in the continent. this bread’s brother in arms relieved me of my hunger not too long ago. ”

watching the training grounds, the elder rider stood stoic ( though clear interest in the group in front of her showed on her angular features ). “i am pleasantly surprised at how the new group is progressing. some should be full riders within months.”

athalos agreed. although he was certainly no credible judge of ability given his status as apprentice, he nodded against her statement, pride for his fellow riders swelling within his chest. for a moment afterwards, there was bliss. however, not a moment later, athalos realized that they were alone. 

 was she speaking ---- to HIM ?  did he just leave her unanswered for a long time? “ i --- i agree.” he sputtered out, suddenly feeling embarrassed for having left her statement hanging in the air, unanswered, for so long.

       he gives her a wide-eyed, playful look as if to say: how could you not know ? before placing said roll on the table in front of his companion & smiling a bit wider.  “ it is yet uneaten, that’s what. “

it felt like gas. his FRIENDS had told him it had probably been gas. However, ever the overly cautious one, here he was currently taking up time that felt like it didn’t want to be wasted on things like this. with no time to double back and leave her presence, he decided to try and give her something to work with. “ -- like my stomach is about to explode. “

ATHALOS HARTGARD, who strongly resembles TYLER POSEY, has made the Shallune Cliffs their home. He is a 27 year old HUMAN. He is known to be +RESOURCEFUL & +OBSERVANT, but also -DISTRUSTFUL & -NAIVE. He is a(n) APPRENTICE dragon rider, bonded to a 9 year old DRAKE named TYNIAT. she is forest green colored, & can be +FEROCIOUS, but also -UNPERCEPTIVE. 

WHADDUP Y’ALL. name’s ari. i’ll be posting a more detailed intro for athalos once i get my own computer back ( which will be tomorrow, i hope! ). But, for now, here’s a few pointers i feel like you guys should know about my baby. Sorry if this is kinda rushed, i just wanna get my foot in the door here.

- He grew up mostly by himself ---- he had parents, but once they started to see his inclination towards things that weren’t particularly belonging to MOST people ( i.e: riders, magic, etc ) , they abandoned him for fear of him getting involved with things that would bring war upon their struggling way of life.

- Athalos was a beggar for most of his childhood, and that was where he learned to read expressions & observe behavioral patterns in people. He’s cunning, but sometimes he trusts his gut way more than he should and sees things that aren’t quite there.

-He’s very friendly towards all , if not incredibly goofy, and this is born from his hubris over learning magic as well as he has, as fast as he has. it’s not ill-meant hubris, nor malicious in any way. However, he does get a bit of a hot head when he’s found wrong.
