“There’s another boyfriend?”
I think using mariah carey's whistle note to kill stymphalian birds was the funniest yet the most clever thing ever
we're getting levels of percabeth angst i wasn't expecting until s4...if this is how they're acting pre-rachel/pre-holding up the sky/pre-volcano kiss we will not survive
I appreciate that even if Rick changed how Percy and Sally help Tyson, he didn't change his story. His scars, his stories, his insecurities, his fears. All that is still there, and it's not made more palatable for the new audience. Yes we're missing Percy's internal monologue and all that tells us, but all the pieces are still there. What's more, I think it's one of the only times–up to now– in the series where instead of telling us everything directly, he's showing it to us, and I really like that to be honest.
no one’s surprised the show is back at its “percy has to know everything already because we hate the element of surprise” agenda, but robbing us of stalkerbeth busting down the gymnasium walls and kicking matt sloan’s ass should be enough to land rick’s ass in scylla’s maw.
and then annabeth only finding out about the great prophecy now is extra stupid because suddenly she has this covert agenda with chiron to protect percy (in a way that inevitably causes friction with him) when that’s always been her overt goal…sworn on the styx in front of him. annabeth’s always had knowledge percy wasn’t privy to but they’ve never made a secret of looking out for one another, and having to prevent him from going on the quest in the first place just feels so out of character for someone who’d believe in their ability to save grover together and get back safely. the dramatized “we can’t ever return to camp half blood” is also soooo…like it’s never THAT serious; why are we upping the stakes in all the unnecessary ways?
and if annabeth had no inkling of percy’s supposed impending death on his 16th birthday prior to this summer, this further cheapens the random ass percabeth communication issues subplot because if she’s writing letters anyway, what’s holding her back from a simple iris message…? this feels like angst for the sake of angst without solid reasoning behind it. don’t even get me started on annabeth not being able to enjoy anything in the mortal world that adds to the “annabeth doesn’t know how to be human” narrative when she’s actually the most human part of that whole series. she was robbed of 5 formative years of her life in the mortal world, but to act like she’s never stepped foot outside camp before is a gross overexaggeration that makes her character more serious and one dimensional than she deserves to be.
that’s not to say there aren’t little moments that i enjoy, but the gravity of those moments pale in comparison to what really matters. tyson outing percy’s obsession with annabeth’s photo and annabeth crying and begging at thalia’s tree are the only scenes i’ve got no notes for. the bottom line is this show craves drama where there is none and undermines the dramatic elements that have already been textually established in order to create what’s essentially glorified percy jackson fanfiction. and the nail in the coffin is the wedding dress is deeply fugly :(
"like if you support-" cut the bullshit. you want people to show their support? likes aren't how you do it. encourage people to donate if they can. remind people to go give their struggling friends some extra support. tell people to try and spread some kindness into someone who's having a tough time-- whether you know them or not. tell them to openly advocate for change where it's due. likes are nothing-- our voices and actions are everything. we are stronger as a community.

My little list of non-required headcanons:
1. You can't make me believe that after the war Draco made his hair grow like his father when it's literally the only thing that differences them.
2. He paid an INSANE amount of galleons to find experts all across the world to help Astoria with her curse
3. There are at least a statue in the manor's gardens and a moving portrait of Astoria around after her death- Draco wanted the portrait in his personal office but Astoria, in the painting, scolds him to put her were Scorpius can see her too
4. SCORPIUS BECOMES A RESEARCHER FOR MAGICAL DISEASES AND BLOOD CURSES AFTER HIS MOTHER'S DEATH
5. Whoever you ship Scorpius with (I like Scorose but Scorbus is more than okay too) Draco is absolutely the most mature about it and invites the his son's love interest over for dinner with the respective families.
6. HE TAKES GREAT PRIDE IN SHOWING AROUND RON AND HERMIONE (OR HARRY AND GINNY) TO SHOW THEM THE MANOR IS NOT AS UNWELCOMING AND DARK AS IT WAS WHEN THEY SAW IT DURING THE WAR
7. Scorpius was sat down by Draco the moment he judged him mature enough to understand and told him EVERYTHING about the war and what he did
8. Scorpius is the best pureblood little shit with impeccable manners and was taught everything about proper etiquette, and has his parent's ability to give the best roasts. He could make a first year cry, but HE IS THW CRYING FIRST YEAR most of the time. He knows how to stand his ground and can be really sharp but doesn't do that on purpose.
9. Bookworm: growing up in the manor reading was his favourite hobby and he's incredibly book smart (more than any kind of smart- he studies quidditch strategies instead of playing it)
10. Draco's dream was to be a quidditch player and it was HEARTBREAKING for him to learn that Scorpius wasn't applying for the Slytherin team

all public transport should be free unconditionally and I'm TIREDDD of pretending this is a radical idea
there is a double standard where public transport is expected to bring profit, but roads and highways are treated as a common good and are built and maintained (e.g. patching holes) through taxes
fuck that
