Some things change, some stay the same. I could not be more ecstatic to report it looks like this was a success and we're going on about 2.5 months post surgery!!!! How I got injured, I'll save for another post. Briefly, I had "Proximal tendonitis of the short head out the biceps tendon on my left arm", Aka, my left shoulder hurt like a mo-fo pretty much chronically but especially upon flexion, holding heavy objects, opening doors, sleeping, basically most things. To fix it, a surgery called biceps tenodesis, where the damaged tendon is cut where it inserts into the shoulder, and is instead inserted into the humerus with a screw. How that helps, I'd advised reading into it. It works! Mine was pretty damaged. No healing over 5 years. Physical therapy did nothing. It's still relatively a long road, the good doc says another 3 months until I'm cleared for impact. But, its been absolutely completely worth it. I cannot believe I was living with this for 5 years -Especially doing the freakin WURL with it- It was pretty damn painful. The affect pain has on mood and the ability to be present is hard to describe. Not to mention the anxiety I faced with the pain was so great last year it was hard to lift milk. I thought it might be hard to take care of myself one day. It's like I've been given a new lease on life. In short, very happy and grateful work the outcome ☺️ #Amputee #AdaptiveAthlete #AdaptiveCycling #Surgery (at Cottonwood Heights, Utah) https://www.instagram.com/p/CJry7sOBIEw/?igshid=zs9as73t2h9r
