@one-cd-at-a-time
All my faves here:
Lauryn Hill
The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
Forgive Them Father
I don't actually have this CD but listened on Spotify because I hadn't heard it for so long - might need to buy it to add to the collection.
Nina Simone (Saga of the Good Life and Hard Times)
Cara: In The Morning
Bill: Nobody's Fault But Mine
Sly, Robbie And Yellowman (Stone Wall Rambo)
Long Rider
Liana Flores (Flower Of The Soul)
Now And Then
Breathy vocals, moody bossa nova-ish
Tim Buckley (Star Sailor)
Cara: Song to the Siren
Bill: Jungle Fire
Basquiat (Original Soundtrack)
Tom Traubert's Blues (Tom Waits)
I don't have many movie soundtracks but I love this one (& I think my friend Alice bought it for me years ago). I have to choose this Tom Waits song as my favourite because I never get tired of hearing it & of course it reminds me of my daughter, Matilda xx
Deviation Street (High Times in Ladbroke Grove 1967-1975)
Cara:
Pretty Things (Sickle Clown)
Mighty Baby (Slipstreams)
Uncle Dog (Old Hat)
Bill:
Mick Farren (Summertime Blues)
This is a 3 CD set so I chose 3 songs but only 1 from Bill who I listened to disc 3 with. I also read the booklet because I didn't know anything about this music scene in late 60s - early 70s London. Portobello, Notting Hill, Ladbroke Grove - places I've been but seems they have certainly changed!
Jorge Ben (A Tabua de Esmeralda)
Os Alquimistas Estao Chegando Os Alquimistas
no idea where this CD came from but had a good time dancing around my living room listening to it today
Susumu Yokota (sakura)
Sake
Really quite beautiful.
Cánovas,Rodrigo,Adolfo y Guzmán
Solo pienso en ti
From a CD recommended to Bill for Spanish guitar playing (maybe when travelling in Spain?)
Bob Dylan (Another Self-Portrait (1969-1971) The Bootleg Series Vol.10)
Belle Isle (without overdubs)
All the Tired Horses (without overdubs)
A couple from this re-release of a bunch of songs from Self-Portrait.
Johnny Cash (Johnny Cash At Folsom Prison)
Folsom Prison Blues
I just had to choose the title track from this CD of Johnny Cash performing at Folsom Prison (and singing Folsom Prison Blues) You can hear the crowd cheering, can’t even imagine how it would have been to have him come in and do this performance.
Aretha Franklin (I Never Loved A Man The Way I Love You)
Do Right Woman - Do Right Man
It was not easy to choose a favourite song off this CD with so many great songs.
Linda Ronstadt (Canciones De Mi Padre)
La Calandria
Mainstream Mariachi - thanks to Linda Ronstadt.
Pulp
Help The Aged
This is a single CD - it’s got 3 songs but I’m guessing we bought it for the title track so not too surprising that’s the one I chose - I love this song.
Merle Travis (The Merle Travis Guitar / Walkin’ The Strings...Plus)
The Sheik of Araby
This was a LOT of Merle Travis to do in one listen - but I did! It was a long drive - his guitar picking and playing is impressive for sure but I’d recommend one small CD at a time.
