Bill: Eulogy To Lenny Bruce

Here’s another one from Velvet Underground. Her voice is... ? ... interesting, deep, a little bit like a smoothie. I don’t really know how else to describe it. I didn’t like all of it but some, yes. Bill said that he heard a story that when she first heard the final recorded version - she burst into tears! He didn’t know why but thought maybe it was because she hadn’t heard it with the string instruments (they are sort of distracting). Anyway I’ve no idea where he heard that or if it’s even true.

Looking for this song on YouTube and I’ve discovered that she has been largely banned for a controversy in 2013 in which she said “God Hates Fags” during a live performance! I don’t know why I missed that but I did - so disappointing when people are ignorant and horrible. So...I’ve not added a link to this song (which I really do like) but thought I still need to write up my entry here...
