Propogation
My best friend has a collection of succulents
Some tall, some short
Some FAT, some thin
At first, I didn’t understand
For they’re all the same shade of green
And they don’t provide a flower
“Why do you love them so much?” I questioned
“They’re easy to care for. and so beautiful.”
When he started to slip a w a y
I began to admire succulents more
Each one is unique, they don’t need much care
But an occasional drink of water and sunshine
And when you tear them apart, they can grow back
Stronger and more beautiful than ever before.
Now that you’re gone
Now that you’ve torn me apart
I will grow new roots
Instead, this time, I’ll grow roots within myself
So that no one else can destroy me
I will grow more and more each day
In beauty and in confidence
One day, I will no longer shrivel up at the sound of your name
And one day, you will see me
And my strong, beautiful, unique, renewed self
And wish that you could once again be my water
My sunlight
My home
