The 4 “shaman” characters that have been a part of the Rivers of Light nighttime spectacular since it debuted at Disney’s Animal Kingdom are being cut from the show.
The live actors will be removed from the show after September 29th, this year’s last day for many pieces of entertainment around Walt Disney World that are being hit with budgetary cuts before the start of the new fiscal year. The two boats the actors were on should still travel out onto the water during the performance, but it will be strange to see them without anybody visibly on them.
Jesus tap-dancing christ, you might as well go ahead with putting in some IP shitfest that appeases the normies and execs that despise the show. The performances from the shaman storytellers do so much legwork in pulling all of the show’s different concepts together and are the furthest thing from being expendable.
In other recent entertainment cuts that are almost certainly the result of the Fox buyout, they’ve dropped the Citizens of Hollywood at DHS, Oswald has left Buena Vista Street in DCA, and they are shutting down Rafiki’s Planet Watch in October. But hey, we got X-Men in the MCU now, so surely that makes this okay… #thanksfox

Twenty Days (20) Until Disney!
That’s all...
Much love to all my friends and Disney peoples in Florida right now. I love you all, stay safe through Hurricane Irma
Siemens AG, who has been a Disney Parks corporate sponsor since 2007, has chosen to not renew their deal. Siemens sponsored Spaceship Earth and Illumi...
I’ve only seen this reported in one place (though they have reported reliably in the past), stating that Siemens AG is ending their sponsorship deal with the Disney Parks at the end of the current contract. I had heard previous rumblings that they were working on a renewal, so the timing seems odd, but something may have gone sour.
Until either party confirms it, I’d hesitate to put too much stock into it, but it could mean a blow to Epcot. Disney could easily run attractions without sponsorships, however I don’t know how much of the sponsor funds they use for upkeep and renovations. I really think Spaceship Earth could use an update, especially with all the rumors circling around Epcot getting an overhaul.
If anyone has any added information or an update on the status of Siemens sponsorship, feel free to chime in!
Hmm... I guess we should take all things with a grain of salt until announced, but it would seem that Disney has filed a permit for an expansion of the France Pavilion in the World Showcase at Epcot. This would make sense with their plans to overhaul the park, and with the popularity of the Ratatouille attraction in Paris, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it come here.
I don’t know how crazy I am about more IP’s in the World Showcase, but given Frozen’s success in Norway, I guess it would seem inevitable at this point. I’d rather not be a curmudgeon about the park being eroded, as long as we can preserve some of the spirit of the Showcase... and provide quality attractions, not just fill-ins. We’ll see!

Happy Birthday, Donald Duck!
“Donald Duck made his first appearance on this day back in June 9, 1934 in Walt Disney’s The Wise Little Hen. That role may have been his beginning, however it was his second film, Orphan’s Benefit, that showed him as the temperamental foil for Walt’s star, Mickey Mouse.
“Donald Duck would go on to appear in over 180 theatrical films, more than any other Disney character. Not only that, Donald is the fifth most published comic book character in the world! Donald’s distinctive voice was created by Clarence Nash, who performed the role for 50 years and was a regular at the old Disney Studio when I started working there in the 1970s. He could often be seen with his custom-made ventriloquist dummy of none other than Donald Duck.”

Happy 83rd Birthday Donald Duck!
Happy 88th Birthday Mickey Mouse!
Reblog this if your blog is a safe haven for ALL non-white, disabled, trans, queer, and/or women, and your ask box is open to anyone who needs it tonight, or anytime, for the next few years.
This, always and forever. Yes, this is a Disney blog. No, I don't want to get political on my followers. Frankly, this is my safe haven from that noise sometimes. BUT! There's a lot of hate going around right now. A lot of fear. A lot of people masking the deplorable things they feel with catchy slogans and harassing people they don't like with seeming impunity.
This is just wrong, and I want every one of you to know that I am here for you. Hell, I am WITH you. I am scared. But my blog as well as my ask box, or any other way you prefer to communicate, is a place that will welcome you with open arms. There's enough hate in the world. Let's support each other with the love and kindness we deserve.
Stay Safe, Florida!
I know it's been a while since I've posted, well, anything. And for this, I do apologize... I'll try and be back soon. But tonight, everyone (especially Floridians) please stay safe. These storms are scary, but it's easy to downplay them when you live in it. Take care of each other! Much love!
This Day in Disney History
September 19, 2001: Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream has a soft opening at the Disney-MGM Studios.
The attraction will be officially dedicated in December. This walk-through attraction has a movie to watch at the end detailing the history of Walt Disney, from his early years, to the birth of Mickey Mouse, Disneyland, and plans for the future.
I’ve always found this attraction so interesting, I really need to give it a thorough tour one day. I love all the miniatures of different attractions. Very overlooked, make sure you don’t pass this one by!
This attraction has been rumored to be on it’s way out for a long time. So far I’m surprised there aren’t any set in stone dates for its demise as the whole area is prime real estate for the new offerings at the Studios. Be sure to check this one out if you can, it’s always possible it’ll be on the chopping block!
However our tower of terror might lose the twilight zone theme removing the rod sterling narration and pre show due to the contract ending soon.
Any thoughts as to the license/contract possibly being cheaper in our WDW version, if they are only negotiating for one, as opposed to both? @didyouknowmagic
Joe Rohde’s looking very uncomfortable in this announcement video for the dumpster fire that is Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout
Someone. Please rescue him from that uncomfortable “everything is okay.. I promise I’m excited” look on his face.
Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT! is coming to Disney California Adventure Park in summer 2017.
At this point, I just feel guilty taking pleasure in knowing our WDW/Hollywood Studios version is "safe", if only for all the fans out in California. I'm so sorry for your loss!
