His mouth curls up like a dead spider...
I shivered when I read it. The precision, the strangeness. Absolute perfection in the form of prose. I can't get the image out of my head.
@onebedtorulethemall is an artist.

Certainly received some funny comments about this line. I stand by it! 🕷️
Thank you @constantblatheringsstuff, you are a gem.
Give a man a fanfic, and he will read for a day. Teach a man to write, and he still won't do it.
He'll think about it though, and boy oh boy, he'll be thinking about it...
We got some authors, artists, and podficcers together for a little White Elephant (this writer calls it Yankee Swap but I was outvoted) Solstice Exchange and fic/podfic/art collaboration. We've got seven works to showcase over the next few days, but they're all available HERE if you're too impatient to wait!
Without further ado, ETL Echo presents ...
The Art of Being Lost
written by @onebedtorulethemall art by @landbeorht narrated by @beatificbean
Pairing: Draco x Hermione Rating: M Word count: 8,190 Length: 1 hour Summary:
Earlier tears had left her eyelids heavy and soft. They fluttered twice before opening onto his face. She said, “Will you tell me why you’ve been living in this tiny Spanish village? You can count on me never to share.” His lungs filled with earth-scented air. “Chasing fairer weather.” He wondered what she saw that made her smile like that. *** In which Draco wasn’t running, but Hermione found him anyway.
So honored to take part in this exchange! Excited to share our Dramione memory loss-flavored solstice collaboration.

“It’s unreachable. That’s the point.”
“How far, Malfoy? Could we walk there by dawn?”
To his credit, he doesn’t sneer, or say, What, without magic?
He looks at the angle of her battered hand and the pain potion she grips like an addict, and tells her, “I really don’t think you’re capable.”
And she is so thankful for the gift of outrage she could kiss him.
Thrilled to participate in the final (pause for big feelings) year of D/Hr Advent. Thank you Musyc and all the readers/writers/artists!
ultimately the truth about frankenstein is that we are all grotesque amalgamations of the best and worst parts of everyone who came before us. and sometimes the people who are supposed to love us because of and in spite of this will not. and we can kill them with hammers for that. and i think that’s beautiful
my brother in christ frankenstein is the title of the book
COUNTERPOINT
well i can’t argue with that one
Ah yes, Mary Shelley’s monster.
no mary shelley is the name of the monster not the doctor
common misconception! mary shelley's monster was actually lord byron

D/Hr Advent 2025
D/Hr Advent began in 2011 on Livejournal as a small celebration of the Draco/Hermione ship and over the years it has become a tradition beloved by thousands of fans across multiple platforms. I'm sure the original founders never expected it to become such a massive phenomenon, and watching it grow has been a special joy for me.
That means it's a little bittersweet to announce that this will be the fifteenth year of the Advent fest, and it will be the last. Fifteen years is a true milestone, and the right moment to close this chapter. I'm grateful to every fan who has been part of this. Writers, artists, reccers, and commenters - you've all made this fest a marvelous experience.
I've looked forward to this every year, and while I'll miss it in the future, it has filled me with such delight that I'll never forget it. Thank you for all the laughs and tears, for your participation and support, and for making every December feel so magical. It's been a treasure.
<3 Musyc
Nominations will open on Friday, Oct 10 and will close Friday, Oct 17 at 11:59PM Eastern (03:59 UTC Oct 18).
I loved Everything We Left Unsaid, do you have any upcoming fics coming down the pipeline you can tell us about x
Thanks for the ask! So glad you loved the epistolary—I'm proud of that fic because, besides just thinking it turned out incredibly well, I'm delighted to have completed something!
Mainly, that's my writing goal these days. Finish ... something. I have so much good stuff cooking that really ought to see the light of day. Unfortunately, I do find that the more I talk about what I'm working on, the harder it becomes to actually write it, because my brain wants to prematurely tick off the box labeled "complete!" But I will tell you that I have a couple of one-shots in the works, including a dead dove that I will probably post anonymously to spare everybody's inbox. And after that, it's a matter of seeing whether or not I can finish what I've come to think of as THE fic: the big fic, the best fic, the (likely) last fic. I put it down for a while, then reread it recently and was genuinely angry when I got to the end of what I'd written. So I guess I ought to see about that. Wish me luck?
Our secret identity + war AU + epistolary dramione is now complete!
Sharing the fic I co-wrote with @alexandra-emerson now that it's complete, and we've made it through 7 months of in-real-time letter posting. Everything We Left Unsaid can be read on AO3.
Summary:
When you put down your quill, you remain the same opinionated, intelligent, determined person who writes me these letters. You don’t hide yourself; the world has hidden you. As for me—I set mine down and pick up a mask, and I wear it until I can’t remember how to take it off. Do I hate what I’ve become? Maybe. Does that matter? Will that absolve me? Am I fooling myself or you? -Your enemy, I think

Becoming a writer is great because now you have a hobby that haunts you whenever you don’t have time to do it
you vixen of words, you have ruined me
And I'd do it again!
Hi! I just finished reading Things Without Remedy at 3am and it was absolutely incredible! From start to finish, complete perfection. The character development of Draco? Heart achingly good. The strength of Hermione? *chefs kiss*
The entire plot kept me hooked, there wasn't a single point that my mind drifted... And the BANTER!? I kept thinking "I've not laughed this much since Bad Omens!" Which I recommended wholeheartedly on a few Facebook Dramione groups, absolutely buzzing off the high of reading it. Up there with DMATMOOBIL. And then, I get to the end, and I see you announcing you're working on a new fic called "Bad Omens". My jaw dropped!! I was like "This woman is a literary genius!"
I had no idea you had written one of my favourite stories (which is unusual for me as I usually keep track, but I was moving house at the time so it was a bit hectic). This is now on my God Tier fic list with Bad Omens, which I am slowly working my way through binding for my library (because I'm as swotty as Hermione and they really do mean that much to me). Thankyou so much for writing. Truly, the joy it brings me will keep me going back and reading these stories until I pop my clogs. If you aren't a published author, you should be. Your writing is truly top tier. I hope you are well and I look forward to now stalking your AO3 account for equally exceptional work ❤️.
Oh my god, thank you. I recall being very taken aback when people told me Things Without Remedy was funny. Here I thought I was writing a serious, angsty drama. (Actually, I still haven't managed to write one of those, and I've absolutely tried!)
Would love to see your Bad Omens bind when you finish!
Fan art cover for SIGRA by @cr0ftisprocrastinating — this fic is such an excellent historical AU! Ok, so I strove to honor that (and have my own fun geek out, because I love this period in history):
The fonts and border are heavily inspired by the Lindisfarne gospel.
Hermione is styled partly after the gorgeous sculpture of Countess Uta (11th century) in the Naumburg Cathedral in Germany. Other aspects of both their outfits are inspired by some drawings of Emma of Normandy and Cnut, the Bayeux tapestry, and a smattering of other 10th and 11th c sources.
The pair are sitting in positions inspired by the King and Queen of the Lewis Chess set (Draco’s chair features a carving from the back of the king piece)
Lastly, the colors are all based on natural dyes that would have been available, but uncommon (as in, for wealthy) in Anglo Saxon England.
Reading this fic makes you smarter and happier and hotter. It's just facts.
Everyone keeps talking about "the writer's barely disguised fetish". But I still haven't heard about "the writer's barely disguised huge ass pet peeve"
Wait & Hope (2025 Version) by @mightbewriting
In honor of the beautiful and talented @beatificbean's birthday, she has graced us with an updated version of @mightbewriting's Wait & Hope, the podfic that started it all.
Wait and Hope by @mightbewriting Pairing: Draco x Hermione Rating: M Length: 10 hours Summary:
“Harry,” Hermione began, voice very controlled, but she could feel the blade of panic slicing at her vocal cords. “Why was Draco Malfoy just screaming bloody murder about his,” and the word almost strangled her as she said it, “wife?” Harry's green eyes blew wide. Healer Lucas pinched the bridge of her nose, clearly displeased with the recent series of events. “He was referring to you, my dear,” she said. “That was the other question you got wrong. Your name is Hermione Jean Granger-Malfoy.” Hermione had to be sedated again. [In which Hermione loses the last six year's worth of her memories, including the entirety of her relationship and marriage to Draco.]
