Presenting Chapter 31 of Dividing Lines, co-written by the exceptional @lgwilt! The team watches a video from OB. Loki and Mobius have an important discussion.
“We’ll give you two a minute,” said Verity, laying a comforting hand on Loki’s shoulder. “See you on the other side, Mobius.”
“See you on the other side, Vee.”
Verity and Casey left the room. Loki’s gaze drifted back to the security feed where Renslayer was talking to Felicia, her arms folded and her expression stern. The hallway outside the Surveillance Room was still deserted, allowing Verity and Casey to make their way back to CDA undetected, but it wouldn’t be long before Renslayer or one of the guards returned.
“Mobius,” Loki began in a trembling voice, “if we don’t make it back—”
“We’ll make it back,” Mobius interrupted softly, his eyes blazing with stubborn optimism.
“Yes, but if we don’t. I need you to know…”
Chapter 30 of Dividing Lines is up!! Co-written with the one and only @insert-witty-user-name-here ✨ Featuring CDA breaking the rules (again) and an unexpected message from an old friend.
Loki knew he didn’t want to hear the answer – there was only one reason why D-90 would be wiping Mobius’ desk clear of his possessions – but he needed to hear someone say it. He needed someone to voice aloud the injustice being done.
D-90 didn’t reply. He moved on to Mobius’ drawers, dumping paper files carelessly into the box that was somehow supposed to contain the accumulation of Mobius’ life. Loki looked on as D-90 cleared Mobius’ stache of extra sugar packets from the top right drawer. Darkness seeped to the edges of his vision. Mobius always preferred his coffee overly sweet; it would be too bitter for him without his extra packets. Loki needed to get them back.
A snippet where Mobius turns the tables on his interrogator:
“You say you’re not severed – do you remember who you were before the TVA?”
Ravonna rolled her eyes dismissively, but Mobius saw the way her shoulders tensed.
“Of course I remember.”
“Really?”
“Yes. My name is Rebecca Tourminet. I live at 37 Meridian Drive. I love to bake.”
“And your childhood? What do you remember about that?”
Ravonna didn’t answer. Her face twitched in pain as if fighting a sudden headache.
“Tell me about your tenth birthday,” Mobius pressed. What is or was the colour of your mother’s eyes? “Or your parents, tell me something about them. Anything, and I’ll believe you.”
Unveiling the next chapter of Dividing Lines, from the brilliant mind of @insert-witty-user-name-here! We're back with the 'innies' this chapter for the aftermath of an eventful evening on the outside. Mobius finds a clue, Miss Minutes is behaving strangely (well, more strangely than usual), and key lime pie makes an appearance.
Miss Minutes twirled in the air and spread her small arms wide, tossing holographic confetti on all of them.
“I think a little frivolity is just what the doctor ordered. How does key lime pie sound? I bet that’ll cheer everybody up! Right?” Miss Minutes suddenly stopped twirling and focused on Verity, dipping her voice low. “Right, Verity?”
Chapter 27 of Dividing Lines is out, co-written by the marvelous @lgwilt! Sylvie and Don have a run-in with Dox, Loki and Don have an important conversation.
A small snippet:
Don risked meeting Loki’s gaze and the breath caught in his throat. It was impossible to think clearly with Loki looking at him like that, fierce and possessive. Don couldn’t tear his eyes away if he tried. For the hundredth time that night he wondered what the hell he’d gotten himself mixed up in. He was hopelessly entangled; he didn’t have the first clue how to extricate himself. But what scared him most – more than the violence he’d witnessed, more than the proof that the TVA was operating outside the law, more even than the revelation that Loki could use magic – was that he wasn’t sure he wanted to break free.
Michaela Coel did not finger Anne Hathaway’s open chest wound and pull out the physical manifestation of their situationship for some of you to say the movie “wasn’t even gay”
You know what would be more meaningful, more essential, more important and earth-shattering than another kiss?
Aziraphale and Crowley holding hands. In public. Taking a stand for their own side.
Because it's not physical affection or declarations of love behind closed doors that will set them free.
It's being able to declare that they are an "us" without being torn apart.
This is a queer love story. We've always been able to love in secret. But to love out loud? There are still significant portions of the world where we cannot publicly love each other without fear of death. Queer love has long been and often still is an act of secrecy or an act of defiance.
Gabriel and Beelzebub cracked the dam. But then they left. Gave up their offices and power and ran off together to somewhere Heaven and Hell can pretend they don't exist.
Aziraphale and Crowley, hand in hand, refusing to give ground, refusing to give up on humanity, claiming the world and each other as their own, and staring unwavering into eyes of God and Satan and all the ranks of Heaven and Hell? We are our own side, we are going to keep being our own side, and nothing you can do will defeat us?
That's the revolution. That's the Big One. That's the only way they win.
Chapter 26 of Dividing Lines is out in the world, co-written with the wonderful @insert-witty-user-name-here! In which Don pursues his own line of investigation (wisely? that remains to be seen...)
No name, no memories, and an overabundance of corporate jargon that would drive anyone insane.
Loki is trapped inside a sinister bureaucratic nightmare, and he’s desperate to wake up.
The TVA – whatever that is – claims he opted to undergo the “Severance Procedure,” splitting his consciousness into two distinct chronologies: one living freely in the outside world, the other eternally bound within the confines of the TVA. The only light in the darkness is a man named Mobius, who also happens to be his team leader.
If Loki has imprisoned himself on purpose, he wants to know why – and if he can’t escape, that only leaves one option: burn it all down.
Chapter 25 of Dividing Lines is up, co-written by the stupendous @lgwilt. (Endless appreciation to Lgwilt for giving into my flights of fancy when I want to write scenes from every imaginable characters' POV, including an exasperated Ravonna Renslayer and a panicked Miss Minutes)
Ravonna’s office was quiet aside from the steady tick of the clock and the impatient tapping of Dox’s finger against her chair. Yellow lamplight cast long shadows across the hourglass patterned carpet. There was a chill in the air, almost as though winter was seeping in from the world outside the TVA’s walls. Ravonna shivered. This was impossible, of course – the TVA existed outside time and space – but the thought, however fanciful, made her uneasy.
Ravonna paused her pacing to check her watch. It was late. Miss Minutes should have arrived by now.
