LAND of Distraction event - a huge turnout!

On Thursday November 30th, was the official launch event for LAND of Distraction at the beautiful Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood. Inspired by the 70s Rock ‘n’ Roll aesthetic, the venue was decked out in vintage motorcycles, Polaroid photos, roses, and stunning lights. Celebrities strutted on the red carpet and posed for photos before checking into the event. To name a few, guest attendees included Kate Bosworth, Tatiana Manslany, Connie Britton, Jaime King, Annalynne McCord, Carter Jenkins, and Teala Dunn. Music was blasting by DJ Mia Moretti, alongside with singer Nikki Lane to get the night going. With live music and an open bar (the ultimate combination), everyone was gathered together with laughter and awes of the newest collection by the CEO of LAND of distraction, Danita Short. Complex Con 2017 a Success

Complex Con 2017 turned out to be a successful event for sneakerheads and hypebeasts, and anyone else involved in street culture. While the two-day event in Long Beach featured performances from artists such as DJ Khaled, Yung Thug, and A$AP Ferg, the main reason most people attended was for a the opportunity to purchase exclusive merchandise from some of the top brands in the industry. A couple of the big releases at the event were Pharrell’s N.E.R.D NMD’s, exclusive to the event, and the Air Jordan “Top Three” in black and gold, to be re-released in February. In addition to these performances, the large quantity of exclusive gear, and the release of several other sneakers, came a talk given by two of the “GOATS” in their respective industries. On Sunday afternoon, Kobe Bryant and Kendrick Lamar gave a talk about their struggle toward greatness, what it means to be great, and the transformation they each went through to become the “GOATS” they are seen as today. Overall, if you were unable to attend, you missed out on a great weekend featuring some of the best aspects of street culture.

AWAY LA STORE LAUNCH

On Thursday, July 13th, AWAY luggage brought their travel bags to its first ever Los Angeles based store. The store is located on 8400 Melrose. The grand opening party of the store showcased the newest luggage and an amazing new welcoming, modern space. Guests at the opening party snacked on amazing mini ice-cream cones, from Wanderlust Creamery. Celebrities and influencers such as AJ Michalka, Tyler Shields and Diandra Barnwell just to name a few, came and checked out the new luggage space as well. The store is officially open to the public so everyone can grab some luggage and start going AWAY!

WELCOME TO MY LIFE PREMIERE

This past Tuesday, June 6th, Chris Brown released his long awaited documentary, Welcome To My Life at the Regal LA LIVE Stadium 14 in Down Town LA. The crowd was energetic as most of it consisted of die hard Breezy fans. Chris Brown walked the carpet with his adorable daughter, Royalty and mother. He was decked out in Dolce and Gabanna and topped it off with some icey jewelry. After a slew of celebrities walked the carpet everyone went to their seats to watch Chris Brown’s rise to fame on the big screen. The documentary consisted of not only his success and astounding talents, but his struggles throughout his journey. Andrew Listermann, CEO of Riveting Entertainment did an amazing job at producing the film. Every person in the theater was engulfed in the documentary! It was released as a one day special release, yesterday, June 8th. If you had a chance to catch it then you too got to experience Chris Brown’s rise to fame!

ROLLING LOUD

Miami’s “Rolling Loud” festival featured some of the biggest stars in the hip-hop industry. Lil Wayne performed classics such as “Go DJ” and “Mrs. Officer”. This was right after a fan rushed the stage three songs into Mr. Carter’s performance. Once the situation was handled, fans were quickly reminded why that love for Lil Wayne still remains. Lil Uzi Vert flipped off a 20+ foot high structure into the crowd during his Miami performance. Better known as a”rock star”, Lil Uzi wooed the crowd with his jaw dropping performance and brought out A$AP Rocky and Playboi Carti to assist him on stage. Migos drew most of the 40,000 attendees to their stage just to find out that they relocated. Rumors were going around the trap trio cancelled, but after an hour delay the biggest group of our generation made the crowd go wild with performances of “Get Right Witcha” and “Handsome & Wealthy”.

UNLIKELY HEROES HONORING GEORGE MICHAELS

Nashville hosted a tribute concert for the iconic pop legend, George Michael at City Winery sponsored by MORE company. Sara Evans showed off her vocals as the headliner for the event. Savannah Chrisley, from Chrisley Knows Best on USA’s Network, hosted the event that will benefit “Unlikely Heroes” which is an organization intended to rescue, restore and rehabilitate child victims from slavery. In addition to Sara Evans, the concert featured musical performances by Cassadee Pope, Desmond Child, songwriter Shane Stevens and more. Stevens helped organize the event as a tribute to George Michaels for he was an “inspiration to him”.

Last night on April 27, The Forum hosted WE Day and uniformly brought together world-renowned speakers, A-List performers and thousands of youth to celebrate the transformation of their communities. WE Day is aimed at encouraging the younger generation to give back to their community and participate in either local or global charities. The event combined the energy of a live concert with the inspiration of heart-felt extraordinary stories of leadership. Stars such as Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Alicia Keys, Jessie J. Josh Gad and Madison Beer showed their support and were a part of the inspiring and empowering event.

POP & SUKI SPRING SOIREE

Pop & Suki was officially launched back in November, but the dynamic duo has created the ultimate pop-up shop fulfilling every pastel lover’s dream. At Platform in Culver City, Suki Waterhouse and Poppy Jamie took their first attempt at a physical retail shop and can safely say it was a success. The dynamic duo created a mobile pop-up shop, and everything was pink. Everything. From the walls to the cocktails, to the candy and customized water bottles, everything was “Tumblr” pink. However, the color wasn’t just to attract millennials. Pop & Suki created a moment for women because they’re owning their color, “in this really empowering way”. Celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Jessica Alba or Emily Ratajkowski have worn the bag, and it has created a “pinch-me” moment for the two business partners. Their mobile dreamland is expected to visit in New York and London sometime this fall.

THE LOST CITY OF Z

On Wednesday April 5, “The Lost City of Z”, which features the story of a British explorer and his obsession with finding the remains of a once-great civilization in the Amazon, made its way onto the big screen for its grand premiere. Brad Pitt, who produced the film, made a public appearance after months of silence following the split between him and actress Angelina Jolie. Stars Charlie Hunnam, Robert Pattinson, Sienna Miller and Tom Holland were among fellow guests in attendance at ArcLight Hollywood. After the screening, the cast, crew and guests made their way to Le Jardin for an after-party. “The Lost City of Z” opens in theatres on April 14.

13 REASONS WHY PREMIERE

After months of promo and anticipation, Selena Gomez’s Netflix-series “13 Reasons Why” made its grand premiere. Mandy Teefey, Selena Gomez’s mom who is one of the executive producers for the show was looking spectacular next to her daughter on the carpet. March 30 was a big night for the executive-producer who dazzled the guests of the premiere in a ravishing tangerine dress. In addition to producing her new series, she did a cover of “Only You” from 80’s syntpop duo Yazoo as a soundtrack for the new series. The show is based off Jay Asher’s 2007 young adult novel which is about putting together the events that led to a young girl, Hanna, taking her own life. Dylan Minnette and Katherine Langford are two of the lead actors on the show who Selena Gomez helped cast.The cast wore blue nail polish to the premiere in honor of the event which is visible on both Mandy Teefey and Selena Gomez.

HUMAN RIGHTS CAMPAIGN LOS ANGELES DINNER GALA

On Saturday, March 18, the Human Rights Campaign Los Angeles Dinner Gala took place. The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) is the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender civil rights organization. Global pop icon Katy Perry was honored with the HRC National Equality award. Groundbreaking actress and LGBTQ advocate, America Ferrera, was recognized with HRC’s Ally for Equality Award. Ferrera walked the blue carpet wearing an embroidered gown, paired with platform sandals, a clutch purse and all red lipstick. Perry wore a chic black and white gown with a ruffled neckline that showed off her figure. Katy’s new short hairstyle gave the ensemble some edge.

2017 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards

Nickelodeons Kids’ Choice Awards took place Saturday at the Galen Center in Los Angeles and was hosted by WWE icon, John Cena. Gwen Stefani walked the orange carpet rocking silver shorts that paired with fishnet tights and thigh-high boots. Divorced parents, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, walked the carpet together with their twins and wore matching outfits. The highlight of the evening was Demi Lovato’s stunning radiant coral gown with a thigh-high slit and gold stilettos. Actors, musicians, and athletes were completely attacked with green slime. Both Cena and Lovato’s got slimed during the show along with Kevin Hart, and Chris Pratt.

CADILLAC CELEBRATES OSCAR WEEK 2017

Cadillac is sponsoring the Oscars for their fourth consecutive year. They celebrated the 89th Annual Academy Awards at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles on Wednesday Feb. 23, 2017. Naomi Watts walked the carpet wearing a classy black ensemble and Zoe Saldana arrived looking elegant as ever in her ruffled cream dress by Jonathan Simkha. Actress Jessica Pare was also at the event making a jaw dropping appearance in her floral black dress.

DIRECTV SUPER SATURDAY PRE-SUPER BOWL PARTY

Before the big game yesterday, a flock of celebrities attended the DirecTV Super Bowl Party in Houston on Saturday night! The highlight of the evening was a performance by Taylor Swift who rocked the stage singing her best hits. Spotted in the crowd were a mix of celebrities and athletes including Chrissy Teigen, John Legend, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Simone Biles and Vince Vaughn with DJ sets by Ruby Rose.

WARNER BROS. AND INSTYLE 18TH ANNUAL POST-GOLDEN GLOBES PARTY

After the Golden Globes on Sunday, celebrities lined up to get inside the Warner Bros. Pictures And InStyle 18th Annual Post-Golden Globes Party. Sofia Richie and Paris Jackson walked the red carpet holding hands, Laverne Cox strutted her stuff in a black cutout dress and Cara Santana looked cozy with fiancé, Jesse Metcalfe. Inside the event, stars took advantage of the fun Instagram booth and sipped champagne. Also seen at the exclusive event were Lea Michele, Tracee Ellis Ross, Eddie Redmayne, Kristen Wiig and Drew Barrymore.

PREMIERE PARTY FOR THE BACHELOR CHARITY

Bachelor alums gathered at Sycamore Tavern in LA last night to celebrate the premiere of Nick Viall’s season of The Bachelor and to benefit the SheLift and Globe-athon charities. While on the carpet, Amanda Stanton confirmed her breakup with former fiancé Josh Murray. Bachelor couples Jade & Tanner Tolbert, Carly Waddell & Evan Bass, Ben Higgins & Lauren Bushnell looked as cute as could be inside the restaurant while sipping cocktails and chatting. Others in attendance at the event included Ashley Iaconetti, Becca Tiley, Lace Morris, Jared Haibon and more.

THE TREVOR PROJECT’S TREVORLIVE FUNDRAISER

The stars were shining bright at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday as some of Tinseltown’s biggest stars stepped out at the Trevor Project’s TrevorLIVE Los Angeles fundraising event. Lance Bass and husband Michael Turchin rocked the red carpet in metallic suit jackets, Juliana Hough glittered in gold and Ariel Winter stunned in a plunging gown with new boyfriend Levi Meaden at her side. Lisa Vanderpump, Kathryn Hahn, Cheyenne Jackson and husband Jason Landau also came out to support the Trevor Project’s mission to spread awareness for suicide prevention among LGBTQ youth.

As the celebs took their seats, the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles opened the benefit with a stirring performance followed by a truly memorable speech by Margaret Cho where she fondly reminisced about Joan Rivers, spoke candidly about sexual assault and blasted Donald Trump to the delight of the crowd. Kelly Osbourne beamed brightly as she took the stage to be honored for her contribution to the LGBTQ community, and Ingrid Nilsen graciously accepted the award for Digital Innovator. Laughter and tears made for a bittersweet night, but one that I’m glad to have been a part of. Cheers to the Trevor Project and the many lives that can be saved through their efforts! #saveyounglives
