i started watching both the anime and the live-action one piece about at the same time and i have so many thoughts that i just need to get out of my notes app so i made this blog to share my thoughts and ponderings surrounding the show(s)
This damn panel where Sanji's shielding Zoro w his entire body on the Arlong Park arc where they had just met each other... And ppl dare to say that Zoro and Sanji genuinely hate each other, yeah right
i did my makeup like bon clay this morning and now them and the live action casting is all i can think about. like that’s my dear friend bon clay and the quite literally perfect casting for them, cole escola

one piece 159 skypiea easily one of the funniest episodes
i like that zoro has my exact view on religion, its not for me but im sure as hell not gonna stop anyone from believing
slowly making my way through opla season two and i kinda hate what they did to usopp in this first episode. in the anime loguetown arc usopp had some genuine character building and found a purpose and a foothold for his dream of being a brave warrior of the sea but in this live action episode they did none of that and replaced it with a pretty nothing-burger message for kaya.
they cut a lot of character building for time (of course) but also for bartolomeo who isn’t anywhere close to being introduced in the anime at this point and who kinda really didn’t need to be there (not that i didn’t enjoy him being there i really enjoyed his and buggy’s lil report).
we saw him and the little girl argue a little in the background of nami’s shot and two seconds later he caught up with her with the glasses on and ready. which is crazy bc him trying to get those glasses was his whole character building arc. him meeting that little girl and her dad and having that shoot off and getting past his own cowardice to be more like the person he wishes he could be is so important to his whole character and they just completely cut it out.
i enjoy buggy as much as the next queer but when it’s replacing genuine character building for characters who usually never get that spotlight i can’t help but feel weird about it
ep 151 has a crazy lineup bc what do you mean mihawks, shanks, DOFLAMINGO, kuma, whitebeard and blackbeard all showed up all at once?!

he’s so excited to see those bugs and he knows so much about them that’s my son fr!!
the concept of a 400 year old log book still readable (or in one piece for that matter) after all that time on the seas and in some guy’s bookshelf 💀
