The Face of Evil

Don't care about what else happened just yet. I might even prioritize this over a surprise Kiku appearance because I did not know how much I wanted such stupid stars to align...

When hunger strikes, Punk 06 babe... Right before some, godly fights! Such a surprise, in this chapter, In Mariejois, York & Mac Tonight!

Seriously, we have an obvious main show here and all but I did get a kick out of this little update. York's in Mariejois, she hungy, need emotional support burger now. But food is scarce in the holy land these days thanks to Sabo's dirty doings so no burgers for York until she fixes up the Mother Flame. Which...is also a sly way of clarifying why they don't just nuke Elbaph. Likewise with the Admirals being held up. The wheels are really coming off and the World Government's desperate.

Obviously we build up to a big dramatic ending and all but along the way we do get some nice silly scenes of cleaning up the mess. This reminds me of a very old type of One Piece clash. I'm talking like, East Blue. Like how Don Krieg is two sides exchanging escalations. And I've long wondered if this story would be a bit more of a parabola. The World Government isn't really Luffy's fight to topple, the whole point of Sabo is he's leading that charge in tandem. We're dealing with the best they can do here because when we get deep, deep into the New World where it's a race to the One Piece...the World Government can't do anything to you. Luffy's so deep and the WG's so burdened by other crises like, the point is you can't easily conquer Wano & Elbaph.

Get it? So in that world, the final stretch would make sense to wind down. Focus more on some really big navigational hurdles, meet Shanks, clash with Blackbeard and you don't really need to be the returning conqueror coming back to topple the Celestials. Anyways, some nice fun toying with the Knights. Gerd is another sizeable woman who is lovely. How dare you call her a freak.

Okay that's just the Devil. That's Satan. Real Lucifer not Koino Dial 6700 thief boi Lucilfer. How are we gonna fight Satan? Brook! Fiddle contest, now!

What else is there to say? This whole reveal carried a lot of awe and majesty to it. Dude looks cool. Seems like there's a pretty big element of like, he can't really do this much or without extreme drawbacks. Which I think fits the theme. King of the World but you can never be a part of it. Also of course, simply "Devil's Fruit." Peep some of the houses animating like Big Mom's ability. Maybe it can do them all? Who knows really, Imu could do a lot from here. I'm sure it'll be pretty spooky.
