Clearly, Kiara is just worried that her older brother, Kopa maybe relies on her a bit too much. Especially since she became Queen. Hell- even their younger brother, Kion been left the Pridelands and got his own thing going with Rani.

"Kopa was always really independent, out there following his own path since they were cubs. But why the switch up? What's got him stuck here?" She ponders...

There was something else I meant to post earlier today but could not bring myself to perfect it on time so here's an already-made TLK-related drawing in acknowledgement of the anniversary of the first movie's earliest debut in the world: The El Capitan Theatre release on June 15th, 1994.

Decided to post a highly-debated, middle-of-the-TLK-fandom-iceberg character of all things to celebrate today.

Was warming up to draw something else and felt like mimicking the offset ink style of the illustrations provided for the book series Kopa is from, called The Lion King: Six New Adventures.

☀️ Happy Lion King day! ☀️

Last year Disney posted an adorable Lion King animation, and it served as the inspiration for this project. I picked my 3 favourite scenes from it to reanimate, and tried to capture that nostalgic Disney movie feel.

I digitally painted the backgrounds using reference from the original film, and animated each character myself frame by frame. This had been an on and off project for many months, and I am so thrilled it worked out to be finished for the movie’s release anniversary!

This is all I’m doing for tonight I’m genuinely exhausted but like 300 notes in general and I’ll turn every cookie into lions (or hyenas or other animals depending) Disney style and possibly make it an AU.

While I don't work on a decent drawing for the characters from my AU, I’m going to ramble a bit about the ideas I’ve been gathering in the meantime.

A large part of the fandom that followed the early days of Kopa fanart is already familiar with the theory that he was injured by Zira, ran off somewhere, and only returned to Pride Rock as an adult, with Vitani as his love interest.

I still have a huge soft spot for that theory, since the very first Lion King fanart I ever made was based on those two. Even so, considering the story of Be Prepared: A Twisted Tale that Disney published recently, I’ve been thinking about adapting Kopa’s story in a similar way: someone who was injured by Zira and went into hiding, but returns during his adolescence rather than adulthood, eventually being found by Kion with the help of other lions. I didn’t want to make it too tragic or angst-filled (like in the older versions of Kopa’s story I created) so this idea based on the Be Prepared release appeals more to me. Also, it allows for some character development for Kion regarding his insecurities when he starts searching for his lost brother.
