@tryingtofindherplaceinthisworld : Taylor,
Your music has been with me since 2006 when I first heard ‘Tim McGraw’. However, I don’t think I really became a ‘Swiftie’ until 2008 when Fearless was released and I heard ‘Love Story’. I was in 10th grade and 15. I got the Fearless CD and later your self titled album. So began my journey with your music.
I remember being 15 and loving the song ‘Fifteen’ as well as ‘Place in This World’. My mom was unfortunately unable to get tickets for my friends and I for the Fearless Tour in St. Louis.
When I was a Junior in HS, I dressed up as you in your Junior Jewels outfit from the ‘You Belong With Me’ music video for a Halloween party. In the spring of 2010, my HS friends and I were finally able to see the Fearless Tour when you came to Kansas City! We all made puffy paint t-shirts! It was amazing!
Speak Now came out when I was a senior in HS. I loved that album because you wrote it all at such a young age. My friend @bridgetgordinier-blog spent the night at my house during an ice storm that school year. We got pre-sale tickets the next morning. The Speak Now concert in STL was great! Bridget, another one of my HS friends and I wore dresses and cow boy boots and made a light up crown poster!
Then Red came out when I was a Sophmore in college. I know you didn’t think Red was your best album but it will always be one of my favorites! I would listen to Red driving to and back from college. Bridget and I were able to get pit tickets to the Red Tour in STL! We made Meredith sweaters that said on the back ‘Taylor, we can be cat ladies together, like forever’ That concert was so magical!
1989-Now a senior in college. I blasted that CD by myself because my friend Bridget was away nannying. I loved the newness of 1989! 5th and final year of college- Bridget and I dressed up as baseball players to the STL 1989 Tour (night 2). I had a light up heart baseball sign and she had a baseball bat sign. During New Romantics, your mom tapped us on the shoulder and asked for us to come to B-stage with her. We both were crying! The 1989 Tour was incredible!
Reputation-2nd year working in my career. I just moved out of my parents and this album helped me get through the change. It took a while to get used to the new sound but I grew to love it just like the other albums :)
Fast forward to July 2018-I was diagnosed with a super rare neurological disorder called Transverse Myelitis with an unclear prognosis/treatment path. Your Fearless bracelet helped me stay strong through my last hospital stays. I was in the hospital 6 separate times over the course of a few months (for 11 nights in total, plus two ER visits). It’s been pretty tough. I’m nervous of what my future holds but I’m trying to stay positive.
Your music (like it always has) is helping me get through! Just wanted to thank you Taylor! For the past 10ish years, you have been a large part of my life and your music has always been there for me! Thank you for growing up with me :)
My best friend Bridget has been awesome through all of this! Please check out her blog at @bridgetgordinier-blog
Bridget @bridgetgordinier-blog and I were able to attend the STL Reputation Show! We had a blast and dressed up as cat newsies! My rollator was supposed to resemble a newspaper stand! We were in section F, row 21, seats 19-20! We had a gift to give you to raise awareness for Transverse Myelitis but we were unable to find your Mom or Dad-hopefully next time!
If anyone can please help me spread awareness/raise money for the Transverse Myelitis Association, I would really appreciate it!
Transverse Myelitis is a super rare neurological disorder where your immune system attacks your spinal cord. It can lead to paralysis, weakness, pain, and many other symptoms. You can learn more and/or donate to the association at www.myelitis.org
