Last but not least, the most helpful tool for any writer out there is Google!
Yeah…
I’ve been using a Flemish dead color technique for digital painting and it’s super efficient.
I start out with a value layer.
I add in a dead color layer for highlights. This is usually a complimentary, largely desaturated hue.
I paint flat hues lightly, transparently, and build them up gradually on a semi-opaque layer set to Color above the dead color layer. Some of the underpainting showing through allows for broken color and subtle hue variations. A heavy hand while flatting these hues obliterates the dead and value layers, which I don’t like.
One final, opaque layer has the brightest highlights to model form and push values.
Must try this!

witchcraft basics
witchcraft is a practice which allows you to manifest a particular intent. you tap into the energies in the universe and get in tune with nature.🔮✨🌸
there’s a difference between paganism, wicca, and witchcraft!
paganism
paganism is a religion that incorporates the practice of ancient paganism. pagans honor nature and their religion is very nature based.🍃
wicca
wicca is a modern pagan religion created in the 1950s by gerald gardner. wiccans usually work with the goddess and the god (the feminine and masculine energy or the universe), but many work with other deities.🌒🌕🌘
witchcraft
witchcraft is a practice. witches can involve deities, too! the main difference between wicca and witchcraft is that wicca is a religion that uses witchcraft but witchcraft isn’t a religion, it’s a practice. 🌞

HOW TO MAKE A SIGIL
Witchcraft 101
What is a Sigil? A sigil is a symbol with a mystical or magical meaning. Historically the term sigil referred to a type of pictorial signature of an angel, daemon, or spirit. For example, The Lesser Key of Solomon, contains the sigils for the princes in the hierarchy of hell. These sigils were believed to be a representation of the true name of the spirit and thus granted the magical practitioner some control over the being.
Most contemporary sigil crafting is a bit different so today I’ll be showing you how to make a chaos magic sigil. A chaos magic sigil is different from these historic sigils because we’re not calling upon any particular spirit. Instead we are using a personal intention or goal to formulate and charge a custom symbol. Like many varieties of spellwork the intention setting is crucial and crafting a sigil begins by coming up with a sentence or phrase which best encapsulates what we’d like to achieve.
So why do we go through the trouble of creating a sigil and not just write your intention as a sentence on a piece of paper? Well we can get some guidance from Ray Sherwin, one of the founders of Chaos magic. He stated “The magician acknowledges a desire, he lists the appropriate symbols and arranges them into an easily visualized glyph. Using any of the gnostic techniques he reifies the sigil and then, by force of will, hurls it into his subconscious from where the sigil can begin to work unencumbered by desire.”
So the reason we transform the intention statement into a symbol is so our subconscious reads it as opposed to our conscious mind. Something similar occurs with tarot. You could just have a simple note card that lists the meanings of each card. But then we are using our conscious mind to read the words and not really tapping into our subconscious. By using images and symbolism, it’s easier to move beyond our conscious mind and tap into something deeper and intuitive.
How to Make a Sigil? The sigil making process is composed of two phases: construction and charging. In the first part, the sigil is drawn and created as a physical object. In the second part, the sigil is given energy or “charged” and it becomes more than a simple drawing.
Step 1: Choose your sigil type Sigils can be destructible, temporary, or permanent. How you create and charge the sigil may change based on which type you’d like to create.
Destructible sigils are activated by being destroyed. The act of destroying is what creates the burst of energy giving the sigil its power. This is usually done by writing your sigil on a piece of paper and then setting it on fire though you could also carve the sigil onto food and then consume it.
Temporary sigils are sigils that will eventually disappear with time. These types of sigils could be drawn on your skin with a marker or carved into a candle which will eventually be melted.
Permanent sigils are made to last and are meant to be active for a long period of time. Occasionally permanent sigils are recharged to keep the energy active. Sigils like these could be made into pottery as an art piece or you could write a sigil on a piece of paper to be placed behind a painting or under a piece of furniture.
In the video linked below I show you how to make a really simple destructible sigil. To make the sigil you’ll need paper, something to write with, a matchbook, and a fire safe container.
Step 2: Draw the Sigil Begin by defining your desire in one sentence. It helps to use the present tense “I am” vs “I will be.” Also, If your sigil focuses on one thing, it will have a better chance of succeeding so try not to be too broad in your intention setting.
Next, write your intention down on a piece of paper. For my example I’m going to use the intention “I am relaxed.” With the whole quarantine thing right now, I’ve definitely been experiencing more anxiety than usual so hopefully this sigil will help to bring in a calming energy.
Next delete all the vowels and repeated letters in you intention and start composing the pieces of your remaining letters one at a time creating an abstract symbol. Try not to focus too much on what the drawing looks like, let your subconscious guide you in this part. We’ll be burning this sigil anyway so there’s no need to worry about the attractiveness of the sigil.
Step 3: Charge the Sigil There are many different ways to charge a sigil. Since I’m making a destructible sigil the act of burning will be what charges it. Though before I burn it I like to spend a few moments placing my hands on the sigil and visualizing a warm light flowing through my hands and onto the paper. You can also charge a sigil by dancing, chanting, or clapping so choose the method you feel fits best with the type of sigil you are creating.
When you burn the sigil, make sure you’re in a safe and quiet space without distractions. After the sigil is completely burned it is now charged and you can dispose of the ashes. At this point the work is done you can record the ritual in your grimoire and then just let the magic do it’s work.
You are SO familiar....
Pentacle vs Pentagram
This is a VERY IMPORTANT post for you to understand. I’ve seen many people misuse these terms, including myself when I was first starting out. Even seasoned witches still incorrectly label them. To save you from that, I’ll tell you the differences between the two and dispel common misconceptions.
First, you need to know that a pentacle looks like this:
And a pentagram looks like this:
Notice that the only difference is that a pentacle is a pentagram enclosed in a circle. Neither symbol is inherently evil. So if you look or hear the word pentagram and think “Oh, Satanic shit”, STOP IT! Both pentacles and pentagrams are used in white witchcraft.
Pentacles are used for protection and power. Pentagrams are used for invoking and evoking.
NOW! Let’s talk about inversions.
Here is an inverted pentacle:
And here is an inverted pentagram:
Notice how the only difference between the two sets is that the singular point is now facing downwards. The circle with the inverted pentagram is still a pentaCLE.
The meanings between inverted and upright is that the inverted is mainly used to represent dark magicks. There are some kinds of witches that use the inverted pentacle for other reasons, but unless you’re specifically associated with them, it’s not something you need to worry about.
People who practice black magicks, work with demons, and/or follow the satanic path will commonly be seen sporting inverted stars.
**DISCLAIMER Keep in mind to refrain from judgement on this blog. You can send in any questions about black or white magicks, but if you are rude or judgmental about it, I won’t be able to answer or post it publicly.

Interacting With the Fae!
Going along my path of working with the Fair Folk, I have tweaked some of my own guidelines when interacting with them. I had a post about Faery Etiquette that I decided to remove because looking back on it, many of the tips should’ve have been elaborated on so this is my new and improved tips for interacting with faeries.Theses guidelines have come from folklore, books and my own experiences!
Expressing Gratitude
One of the hardest things for beginner fae workers to understand is the rule of not saying “Thank You” to the Fae. There are many theorised reasons why you shouldn’t say this particular phrase because it might be taken as you are being dismissive or you admitting debt to them. Now, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be grateful towards them, instead of quickly saying “thank you”, take your time to express gratitude towards them. One method is to pay back what they have blessed you with! This means setting out an offering of small trinkets, food or drink with the intention of showing gratitude. If you find yourself unable to set aside an offering or you would rather be short and sweet, try rephrasing “Thank you” in other words like “I appreciate this gesture….” or “I’m very grateful for…”
Names
It is best to not tell the Fair Folk your full name and this goes for any spirit. Names hold power and you wouldn’t go around giving just anyone the ability to hold power over you. If you go by a name different than your birth name, I still wouldn’t give them your current name. When they ask for an introduction you can give them a nickname or false name but phrase it so you aren’t technically lying about your name, for example “You may call me *insert new name*”
Honesty and Politeness
Faeries are very different beings from us humans so you should treat them with the utmost respect as to not upset and get yourself into a tricky situation. The Fair Folk are very honest beings and respect the truth so they expect us to be just as honest as they are, so do not lie! There is the belief that fairies cannot lie but it is unsure if that is myth or not. Although the Fae are very honest, they are very skilled at twisting their words and speaking in rhymes so make sure that you do not take everything they say as the straightforward truth. I would not recommend that you try at twisting your words when talking to them because that may get you into some trouble also so it is best that you either speak the truth or keep quiet. Apologies are very important but just like the rule with “Thank you” you shouldn’t say “Sorry”!!This can also be confusing but just show your apology in different way because the phrase can be seen as lazy or dismissive so try setting out an offering to appease them.
Visiting their Realm
If you find yourself visiting the Faerie Realm, always err on the side of caution!!!! This goes for any spirit or astral work! You are stepping into a land that is unknown to you and has many of it’s own rules and customs. Take the countries of our own realm for example, North American countries are very different when it comes to countries in Europe or Asia and it is expected when you visit a different country you try to learn and follow those customs to be polite. Be polite and respectful of the beings that live there but also be cautious of their intentions. Fae workers must realize that not all fae have good intentions but then again not all fae are malicious so be wary when interacting! When visiting have your spirit guides or a trusted fairy guide you through the realm so you don’t get into trouble.
Food & Gifts
Many old folk tales describing interactions with the fair folk often warn against the consumption of food in the spirit realm. For example in the story of Hades and Persephone the pomegranate Persephone eats ties her to the Underworld or in Japanese legend the goddess, Izanami was trapped in the Underworld because she had consumed the food there. Folk tales from the British Isles say that the food of the Faerie realm tastes heavenly but is often enchanted so that whoever would eat it would be placed in a trance. But who knows if these tales are true so as I said before, always be cautious with faeries. Morgan Daimler states in her book Fairycraft, that “When in the Irish Otherworld it is a bad idea to eat or drink anything, and if its offered to you find a way to very politely decline; on the hand if in one of the Norse Fairy Worlds- ljiossalfheim or svartalfheim, for example-i t is acceptable to take food and drink and is worse to refuse than accept it. Should you be in a Fairy world that is not Norse or Celtic try to learn the expected customs first..” (Daimler, 2016)
Fairy Gifts are a very tricky subject I find but here is how I go about it! Trust your intuition when accepting gifts! Declining gifts from the Fae can be considered disrespectful to them so if you receiving a gift from a trusted faery then accept but if you are unsure about the side effects of accepting then either kindly decline or accept it and cleanse the gift. Just be wary that the faery may expect something in return for the gift so be prepared to give them an offering.
