Kaori Sakamoto reacts after her short program at the 2026 World Figure Skating Championships ☆
Uh
Ski jumping youtube poop. A genre I never knew I needed. I'm laughing so hard I'm crying 😭😭😭
(This is for all German speaking mutuals cause unfortunately there is no way to translate this video in any sensible way)
Let me just say, if you ever get the chance to go to Antholz, do it. It's gorgeous. The bus ride was long but it was a whole experience. Winter wonderland fr.
It's been a fun one
nrk is summing up olympics and showed Johannes and Therese's live reaction to that Sturla interview
Sprint for last place 😭😭 excuse my poor filming, I had to act fast and filmed without watching my phone lol
Hello from sunny Antholz 😁
I can't see anything.. wtf is this race? 💀
Anyone else going to Antholz for the mass starts? Was supposed to go with a friend but he can't make it so it's just me 💀
This race is confusing 😵💫

Mikhail Shaidorov (KAZ) | 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics
In a surprising turn of events, Mikhail Shaidorov wins the 2026 Olympic gold medal! He becomes Kazakhstan's first Olympic figure skating champion and the second Kazakh athlete to win gold at a Winter Olympics. He is also the second Kazakh skater to stand on the Olympic podium, after Denis Ten in 2014. 🥇🏆🇰🇿
Ok. Ok I know Tumblr is the Slow News Site. Everything comes to tumblr in 3-5 business days. But.
*grabs you all by the shoulders desperately* I NEED ALL YOU YOI FANS TO FREAK OUT WITH ME ABOUT THE ABSOLUTE HISTORY THAT WAS MADE AN HOUR AGO. I am losing my entire fucking mind. I saw it live onscreen and I haven’t been able to focus on anything else since.
Basically, Both Yuma Kagiyama and Ilia Malinin absolutely BOMBED the free program. They were the favorites for gold, with Ilia edging out Yuma a bit. The news has been nothing but “Quad God Ilia for Gold” for fucking months. Yuma still managed to squeak into silver. But Ilia. That poor boy. 7 quads planned, only managed 4, and one didn’t count as it was a repeat element. Ilia just doesn’t. Do that. He doesn’t pop and fall on jump after jump like that. He finished 8th. EIGHTH!! I am still shooketh.
But that meant. This man. This absolute legend.
This man skated an AMAZING free skate, and brought home the first Olympic Gold for Kazakhstan of ANY kind since the 90s, and the first Olympic Figure Skating Gold for Kazakhstan IN THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF THE WORLD. He was favored for bronze as he’s had a fantastic season. But. Nobody NOBODY could have predicted this gold medal.
I’m also happy for Shun Sato, who was so convinced he’d failed to the tune of 5th or 6th place after his free that he took his skates off. He had to SCRAMBLE with all the cameras on him to get them back on to go get his Olympic bronze. And he CRIED LIKE A BABY WHICH I DON’T BLAME HIM!!
For all the complete shock that this was, all the top men exhibited some real kindness and sportsmanship. Ilia and Mikhail immediately met each other in the Kiss and Cry after Ilia’s score came in for Ilia to congratulate and Mikhail to comfort him. And all three of the medalist boys were clearly trying to keep each other together through their shock backstage before the medal ceremony. They were all very sweet.
Anyway. I am not over this over an hour later. I am not going to be over this for DAYS. Utterly bonkers. Upside down world. I can’t believe I watched Figure Skating history live with my own two eyes. I’m only jealous of my fandom friend who got to be there in person when it happened.
Anyway. Look up Mikhail’s skate if you missed it. It was amazing. A lot of amazing skates this afternoon, and some real upsets. The men were really menning this Friday the 13th. I just wish Denis Ten could’ve been there to see himself what his legacy wrought.
