in lady midnight it’s mentioned several times how much ty likes physical affection, he’s described as “cat-like” many times in the way he leans into touch. when kit and ty work through all their bullshit i need kit to constantly be showering ty with physical affection. holding hands every where, petting his head. pls ms clare if you can hear me-

Not a headcanon girlie but I like to imagine that Julian never developed a music taste growing up because at his peak preteen years he went through the Dark War and all that trauma, then he became a father of 4. Raising his younger siblings took enough of his energy, Julian definitely wasn’t fighting over aux priorities too. So he spent his teenage years listening to whatever anybody else put on. His and Emma’s travel year was life changing and probably the moment he truly started to figure out who he was exactly. What I was getting at is that I like to imagine that while restoring Blackthorn Hall Julian probably discovered dad rock or whatever Arthur and Andrew were really into when they were teens. He got really into. Helen, Mark, Emma and Aline find it very endearing that is his way of reconnecting with his dad, who was taken away too soon from them and with his uncle, who they would have loved to know pre madness… the younger Blackthorns don’t vibe with it. Julian’s now banned from aux priorities unless he’s had a bad day or they’re trying to get on his good side<3

i love the idea of julian enjoying dad rock it makes perfect sense and i'm even planning to put together a playlist with his favorite songs.

the part about him reconnecting with his father and uncle made me very emotional because i see it as necessary for him to have something involving his father's and uncle's names that isn't tied to tragedy. i can see him thinking about what those songs and bands he's surrounded by the stuff from the two older blackthorns could have meant what led them to discover that specific part from the mundane world if they ever went to shows it was as a small act of rebellion against the shadowhunters.

maybe he took emma to a show of one of the bands he saw that's still active? i think they both had a lot of fun, even if emma didn't really like the music. she discovers a new side of julian a relaxation that only dad rock can provide and thinks he's become even more handsome.
