Yet Here's a Spot
Martha nodded, hearing the fork prongs hit the plate at a much faster pace than before. She poured him a mug of tea and then herself one before turning around again to set his on the table. She sat down across from him after putting milk and sugar on either side of his mug. Then she started sipping at her own. She usually didn’t add anything to her’s either.
"Want some more bananas?" She asked casually, looking from him to his near empty plate and back. Dark eyes searching. He hadn’t once tried to force her to leave even though he looked like he could have overpowered her. Or picked her up and set her outside of his TARDIS. And yet here he was, letting her boss him around and take care of him—no matter how much he was against it. She hadn’t thought about what the Doctor would be like before Rose, and now that she knew…she wanted to take care of him all over again. He was still her Doctor and she was his doctor.
"Have you rested at all?" Her brow pinched, she knew Time Lords didn’t need much sleep at all. The proof was when she and the Doctor were forced to share a flat and a bed that be hardly ever spent any time in.
"'m fine fo' now. I guess," he mumbled around another mouthful of banana, sticking the fork in the last remaining slices before shoving them in his mouth. He'd not even realized how quickly he had eaten. Hungrier than he'd thought, apparently. Once he finished off the bananas, the Doctor picked up the mug of tea Martha had set down in front of him. He took a sip, grimaced just slightly at the taste, set the mug back down, and added just a pinch- a literal pinch of sugar measured between his thumb and index finger- to the tea before taking another drink. Seemingly satisfied with the taste, he sat back in his seat once again.
"No' since I woke up like this, no," the Doctor sighed, shaking his head. "Don' need much if 'm bein' honest," he shrugged, looking down into the dark depths of his mug. He did feel tired at the moment- exhausted in fact- but that wasn't exactly information he felt like volunteering.
The Doctor glanced around the semi-darkened kitchen and dining room, the only lights that were on being the one above the small, square table and above the stove and counter where Martha had been. His eyes were still duller than normal, but there was a tiny spark of life behind them just waiting to grow. Not that he particularly felt like kindling or encouraging that light, but it was there.
