Oof it’s… a lot. I can try to summarize it but it’s technically still ongoing. Moving this to reblogs for better reading.
It started on like Sunday or Monday? User TakoyakiDonuts posted an open letter demanding that Maghni be cancelled and that everyone be refunded. There was a bit of a back-and-forth between her and one of the devs before this, but it just made her angrier. Mind you, she’s been incredibly patient with the team and has more insight than most people do, so seeing her lose her cool was kinda insane.
This caused a huge shitstorm while the remaining devs were trying and failing to put out the flames. The head of Misbah and former director, Natalia, put out a document explaining her side of what happened. TLDR she lost A LOT of money to this mess, the coder stole all the engine’s progress and ghosted her, and claimed that the head of Vocatone and other former co-director, Austin, had financially and verbally abused her to the point of a mental health crisis.
So obviously public scrutiny was immediately put on Austin, demanding that he come forward and explain himself. Within the same day that Natalia had posted her doc, her facebook and instagram accounts were mass reported, likely by Austin to prevent her from documenting more of their conversations.
Eventually Austin did come out with his own document this morning, where he ‘explains’ himself and also announces that he’s stepping down as head of VT (aka running from consequences). This was immediately torn to shreds and Natalia put out ANOTHER document pointing out all of Austin’s lies.
Finally the remaining Maghni team updated the website, which is where we’re at now. There could and probably will be more to this since, again, it’s still ongoing. But Natalia is currently frustrated and wants to be left alone so I think it’ll probably be a while.
