anyone on this site know latin? some of you are catholics, right, i think latin is a catholic thing, fuck if i know. anyways i just started this semester and i'm having some trouble with my homework. we're supposed to decline noun-adjective pairs, and most of my answers were right, but for laetus-a-um with nauta i declined it as laeta nauta, laetae nautae, etc. and apparently it's supposed to be laetus nauta? can anyone explain this i'm really confused about why it's laetus, like nauta is first declension so it should be with a feminine adjective, right? i was going to go to office hours but i got distracted arguing about the latest episode of heartlock with alynn

Dear Philadelphia Parenting,

My younger son, currently eight years old, has severe developmental delays. He lags behind others his age in understanding even relatively simple concepts, and he is barely capable of using language, although we've had some success with technological speech assistance. How do you suggest raising him to know God? I know God understands that not everyone has the same capabilities, but I'm worried that he can't understand us when we explain Jesus's love for him, and I'm terrified that he'll inadvertently grow up in ignorance and fail to accept His saving grace.

Unfortunately, the struggles you face are extremely common in this day and age. The most important thing is to remember that God loves every one of us, from the youngest child to the wisest elder. Just as God would not be angry with a baby for not yet knowing Him as we do, he will not be angry with your son. Do your best to teach your son, and even if he cannot articulate it in the same way you can, he will come to know Him.

It may help you to find a support group of other parents in your area experiencing similar struggles. They may also be able to help you explain religious concepts to your son in a more understandable way.

I am part of a homeschooling co-op with several other parents. One of them recently mentioned to me that she has not breast-fed any of her three children. With her fourth on the way, how can I explain to her the health benefits of breastfeeding in a way that will get through to her? I've tried bringing it up to her gently, but she got upset at me.
