Hi, I’m Ophie.
I’m a twenty-something dysphoric butch lesbian from the U.S. Whether that makes me trans or not is an open question, and not one I’m especially interested in going into at the moment. What I am interested in is engaging with radical feminist theory without surrendering my ethical spine.
I don’t ascribe to a specific feminist label (TIRF, TERF, libfem, radfem, marxist feminist, etc). Most schools of feminism have something worth learning from, and all of them also have blind spots.
These are the boundaries
I believe in full, radical bodily autonomy. If you are a woman, trans, cis, intersex, or just an emo who gets tattooed every other week, your body belongs to you. Your meat sack is not public property, a political pawn, or a moral lesson.
Relatedly: fuck transvestigators. That entire fixation is a parasite on feminist politics, rooted in toxic beauty standards, intersexism, and racism. I’m not interested in policing bodies, measuring collarbones, or reinventing phrenology with a feminist coat of paint.
Sex work is exploitative, especially under capitalism, but criminalization is not the solution. Criminalizing prostitution doesn’t eliminate harm; it silences victims, traps people in abuse, and protects traffickers by making survival itself illegal.
Misogyny is a behavior, not a magical trait tied to identity. Anyone is capable of it, including women. I reject frameworks that scapegoat minority groups- trans people, gay people, racial or religious minorities, disabled or neurodivergent people- as uniquely or inherently misogynistic.
I respect trans people’s identities and pronouns, full stop. Even when they’re terrible. That is a boundary I won’t cross.
Pro: women, abortion, radical bodily autonomy, liberation for all oppressed peoples, interpretations of religion that don't actively contribute to women's oppression, youth liberation, male feminist allies
Anti: cops, ICE, patriarchy, beauty culture, capitalism, rape culture rhetoric, bigotry, patriarchal religion
