Thomas Sankara the human by Richard Tiene
A brave girl from Afghanistan spray paints #LetHerLearn on a wall to spread a powerful message of resistance against the Taliban's oppressive ban on girls' education.
so many radical feminists use being gender critical as an excuse to just spew hate against trans women with absolutely zero nuance
reminder that indigenous women are facing a crisis of disproportionately high rates of violence, including murder, sexual assault, and sex trafficking
True feminism is acknowledging that you have been influenced by the patriarchy and then fighting against it. I don’t know where we went wrong but feminism is NOT playing the victim and claiming that you’re completely helpless to societal pressure. If you want to fight for women and for yourself, go makeup free. Volunteer at women’s shelters. Boycott corporations that make money off of women’s insecurities. You can make the choice to participate in stupid sexist beauty rituals, but don’t try and water down our movement by calling yourself a feminist.
Going makeup-free is great except that it results in workplace discrimination, especially if you're already "ugly" or fat. I left my first career (I cut hair really well) because the expectation was that every woman (but not the men) wear a full face every day, and I wasn't willing to do that. Not everyone has the option to change careers though.
I wanted to add this but I didn’t want to make the post longer! I agree that women’s safety and survival has to come before any protest and i know that if you don’t conform, it can seriously ostracize you or put you in danger (sorry about your last job situation that’s awful)

happy international lesbian day <3
feminist anti-racism socialist/communist book recommendations!!
ofc I had to pick up yearning by bell hooks because she’s so classic and this book focuses on ideas of intersectionality and modern society,, if you’re looking to learn more about race and women I definitely recommend
second I grabbed Thomas Sankara speaks (again) because I wanted to revisit his ideas on anti-imperialism and anti-zionism which feels extremely relevant now and always (STRONG RECOMMEND FOR EVERYONE)
Since I was revisiting sankaras works, I thought staying on the political theme with Karl Marx would fit so I grabbed the communist manifesto !!
message me with recommendations pls
some recommendations for lesbian radical feminists that are tired of male centered books <3
I know Tove and Bechdel are both already very much recognized as great feminist authors but I want to connect with more of their fans lol
And I usually only read non fiction and theory so this was a good way for me to switch up my reading (even though both books are based off of real stories)
women in Gaza are currently being forced into sexual acts by male aid workers so they can stay alive.
A 2011 study found that women with disabilities are 4 times more likely to experience sexual assault than nondisabled women
A term I’ve been hearing women throw around recently is “Monthly maintenance.” This includes lash extensions, nail appointments, laser hair removal, getting hair rebleached, and even redoing Botox filler and cosmetic procedures. These rituals being labeled as maintaining yourself is absolutely insane. Why can’t we exist as we are? Do men need to be maintained? The fact that it’s 2025 and we have such a blatantly capitalist and misogynistic concept that has mainstream women in such a grip right now is absolutely crazy. How do people see nothing wrong with this?
“THE REVOLUTION AND WOMEN'S LIBERATION GO TOGETHER. WE DO NOT TALK OF WOMEN'S EMANCIPATION AS AN ACT OF CHARITY OR OUT OF A SURGE OF HUMAN COMPASSION. IT IS A BASIC NECESSITY FOR THE REVOLUTION TO TRIUMPH. WOMEN HOLD UP THE OTHER HALF OF THE SKY.” - THOMAS SANKARA
corporations are perpetuating sexist beauty standards and they are profiting off of your oppression. rejecting beauty culture is a powerful act of resistance.
1970's feminist vandalism
Bring back real feminism!
“We don’t need feminism”
I just had a doctors appointment trying to figure out things about my reproductive health only for my doctor to tell me that medical researchers were genuinely too sexist to do any sort of research on women with my disability and instead focused ENTIRELY on males and how much they would enjoy having sex with someone that has my disability. Sexism and the objectification of women is literally making me live my life in pain.
