if tim burton wanted to make a gritty addams show he should've made a gory horror comedy

like wednesday electrocutes pugsley & his face melts off claymation style. he's laughing as he pushes the skin back onto his skull and grandmama makes a joke abt a potion that'll heal him up, "your uncle fester always carries extra" and he walks into the next scene completely normal

morticia is trying to shoot apples off of gomez head with a bow and misses and shoots him in the eye. he reassures morticia telling her the apple was in the wrong place as he pulls his eyeball off the arrow and pops it back into his head. he comforts her saying his vision usually comes back in a day or two anyways.

gritty in a way that doesnt strip the addams of being the counterculture, horror loving freaks that i love so much

Gomez Addams canonically (what little canon there is for the Addams Family) wants to be a failed businessman. He funds and buys out absolutely insane failing businesses because they seem like it would be fun to be a part of them before they go belly up. But the businesses keep succeeding

Now, what if, through many a seance and wondering various Addams related catacombs he finds evidence that his family has been blessed with good fortune when Great Grandpappy Whosawhatsit was traveling through Asia

Gomez eventually finds his way to a certain gambling den and begs the owners to please remove the blessing so that he can experience the swirl of emotions that is losing a shit ton of money

One of the owners seems a little miffed about the whole thing. It took quite a lot of ingenuity to create a blood curse that causes all of a man's descendents to aquire wealth when they least want it after all. And no one ever has had the gall to ask for a refund before.

Gomez is, of course, very excited to learn that he's not blessed with good fortune, he's cursed with inescapable wealth
