𝐬𝐞𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧.

          if there was a picture in the dictionary next to the phrase   ‘ out of place, ’   it’d be of Sebastian right about now   –   he had checked the address at least a dozen times as he entered this part of the city. another dozen as he approached the imposing building.   &   even now, stepping out of the private   ( ! )   elevator, he’s still not convinced he’s at the right place, let alone allowed to be here.

         “ uh – Sebastian, ”   he awkwardly accepts the young girl’s hand, trying his best not to gawk at his surroundings   –   he got the sense everything in this place was hypoallergenic, like those fancy poodles or something. especially the girl though;   she looked too clean, too youthful, too   …   perfect to be touched by something he knew for a fact was dirty.

         “ sounds good, ”   he tries to smile with a quick, business-like nod, forcing his attention back on Serena, but it was hard to focus through the speculation of how rich she must be   –   you’d have to be, right ?   to live in a place like this ?

          “ nice … place, ”   Sebastian offers while cringing internally, following behind her towards the study   –   did he have to say that ?   of course it was a nice place. obviously she knew that. god, he’s an idiot.

𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫,   and yet somehow even quieter with sebastian’s soft voice  --   but something about it,   serena liked.    he may stick out like a sore thumb amongst the silks and paneled walls,   but she barely noticed;   what did it matter?    all that mattered was a white nda with his signature on it. 

of course,   if she were worth anything,   she would learn to do it herself;   it was the surest way of keeping things quiet, but...   it needed to be done now,   not in the span of however long it would take to learn.

        ❛     thank you,     ❜     serena laughed,   covering her mouth with her little hand.    somehow,   the compliment didn’t seem entirely sincere,   but niceties were pleasant enough.

guiding him into the study,   there’s a desk with two separate laptops,  and two cellphones,   with the curtains drawn wide open to let in the sunlight.    it was different from the rest of the apartment so far;  high bookshelves,   two desks,  and dark wood. 

      ❛     it must’ve been weird to have to sign something before coming  --  i’m sorry for that,     ❜     serena pulled out the chair for him to sit.     ❛     i promise,   it’s nothing sinister...   well,   i suppose anyone would say that,   regardless...     ❜     she took a deep breath.     ❛     anyway,   um,   i guess you’ll see that anyway...     ❜

Korrina never understood celebrity culture. The millions of fans and critics waiting to dissect one’s thoughts and actions, the concept of people living through strangers; it all struck her as quite bizarre. The fighter found Serena admirable for enduring this lifestyle on top of her Champion title at such a young age.

“Oh, Serena! There you are! Congrats on beating Diantha!” She greeted the heroine at the cafe’s entrance - admiration wasn’t the reason for today’s meeting. Korrina gestured towards a nearby table, “So, so sorry for asking to meet up like this. Like I said earlier, I’ve just been really curious about you as our Champion.”

𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐚;   being born in a prominent family,   flashing lights had followed her from birth  --  but being champion was different.    she was different,  far more than her little sixteen year old self.    still,   her smile was just as dazzling as it had always been,  as she reached her hand out to shake korrina’s. 

❛     it’s fine!    thank you,  it means a lot to have beaten such a strong trainer,  with such a strong bond with her pokémon.     ❜     is that the correct script?    the words were true,  serena could barely remember the battle.     ❛     i don’t mind at all.    i’m sure it must be...   weird?    well,  maybe that’s not the right wording...   ah,  either way!    i’m happy to answer any questions!     ❜
