what i love the most about hippo campus is that it really feels like people coming together and making music… i know it’s 4 in the morning and i might just be rambling, but hear me out. i listen to a lot of different kinds of music, and you honestly just dont get this vibe from any other group. there are so many artists where the tunes are written for them, or where only the frontman does the writing. hippo campus doesn’t let that happen. even regarding themes and lyrics, the band speaks as more than just jake luppen. they are a collective. i think that’s really fucking cool! to me, that’s what’s so special and unique about music, the team aspect of it. and you can see it when they’re on stage, too- from the clear, cohesive emotions they express with each song, to something as simple as everyone chiming in to help with backing vocals. they work as a whole, as a BAND of people, making music and sharing ideas. im really glad hippo campus is not only true to that style of writing, but that they also help us feel that togetherness when they perform. what a fucking great band
