This so sums up my thoughts on tomorrow...but the show must go on...415am alarm is set
Happy June 1st!
Today was a bit of a rough start...I had plans to get up when my alarm went off at 7:30....ha. 8:45 was more like it...zumba had a rough start too, the first few songs seemed soooo hard! I kept wanting to look at the clock...but I surprised myself and by pushing through I actually ended up getting through without major issues! Another lesson to be learned!
Ah Thursday...welcome my wonderful friend. Because I work 10 hour days, I only work 4 days week and right now Fridays are my day off, hence my love of the Thursdays! On the annoying side I was starving all day today, no idea why! Maddening, but on the plus side I came home from work, had a nap (lovely), made dinner (bbq chicken thighs, basmati rice, corn on the cob and brussel sprouts. Then off to aqua zumba!
Now to relax on the couch and watch some River Monsters on Netflix! (I was looking for Dirty Jobs...).
I know how difficult binging can be and how difficult it is to stop. I did some research and found 10 ways to help with binging; so here they are. I hope this helps you!Â
Stress management So as you know stress is one of the many reasons why people binge, therefore being really important that you manage your stress. It is most important that you find an alternative way of handling your stress and overwhelming feelings without using food. These may include exercising, meditating, using sensory relaxation strategies, and practicing simple breathing exercises.
Try and eat 3 meals a day with snacks! Eating breakfast is so important because it helps jump start your metabolism in the morning. Try and follow breakfast with a balanced lunch and dinner, including healthy snacks in between the meals. Try to stick to scheduled mealtimes because skipping meals can often lead to binge eating later in the day.
Avoid temptation As difficult as it may be try and avoid the temptation. I find a good way to do this is by fixing your source of foods. You’re much more likely to overeat if you have junk food, desserts, and unhealthy snacks in the house. Remove the temptation by clearing your fridge and cupboards of your favorite binge foods.
Don’t diet Deprivation and hunger from strict dieting can trigger food cravings and the urge to eat excessively. Try and focus on eating in moderation. 80% goods and 20% not so good. Sometimes it is better for one to go 100% healthy until they feel confident enough in themselves to allow the junk food. For others they may need to slowly cut out the junk food. However this is not always the case so try and find something that works for you. Also find nutritious foods that you enjoy and eat only until you feel content, not uncomfortably stuffed. Don’t make yourself eat stuff that you don’t like. Enjoying the healthy foods are really important too.
Exercise Not only will exercise help you get fitter in a healthy way, but it also lifts depression, improves overall health, and reduces stress. The natural mood-boosting effects of exercise can help put a stop to emotional eating.
Fight boredom Instead of snacking when you’re bored, distract yourself. Take a walk, call a friend, read, or take up a hobby such as painting or gardening. It is really great to get out of the house, especially on nice days. Getting in the sun and breathing that fresh air is fantastic for lifting moods and relieving stress and also may help prevent binging.
Get enough sleep If you’re tired, you may want to keep eating in order to boost your energy. Instead of doing this maybe light some candles, play some music or have a bath and try and relax your mind and body. You should also instead maybe take a nap or try and go to bed earlier.
Listen to your body Try and learn the difference between physical and emotional hunger. If you ate recently and don’t have a rumbling tummy, you’re probably are not actually hungry. Give the craving, time to pass. This also includes eating and drinking at appropriate times. Sometimes thirst can act as hunger, so try and drink lots of water. Drinking water also helps fill you up preventing the hunger for foods, eating when bored and hopefully binging.Â
Keep a food diary I find these sometimes are difficult to remain committed too, however some people are really good at doing this. Try and write down what you eat, when, how much, and how you’re feeling when you eat. You may see patterns emerge that reveal the connection between your moods and binge eating. Writing your emotions about what you feel when you eat may also act as a form of releasing and may actually help you reduce your stress, overall helping with emotional eating.Â
Get support This is so important. You’re more likely to succumb to binge eating triggers if you lack a solid support network. Talking helps, even if it’s not with a professional. Lean on family and friends, join a support group, and if possible consult a therapist or you know, you have an entire tumblr/fitblr community that are all willing to help you and will try their very best. I hope I have manage to help in some way but I haven’t please don’t be discouraged and talk to others because they may know just exactly what to tell you or their advice may apply to you better.

And then there was sweat...like a lot...in my shoes...happy girl!
Thanks to training courses in town that start at the more reasonable hour of 8am I can stay up late and watch a good movie! (And have time to do zumba and bbq some chicken and asparagus for dinner)
Its Monday...
This is the first day in a long time that getting up and going to work made me want to cry...I need a window! And getting texts from people who are off today (ahem Chris) telling me how nice it is outside doesn't help...yawn
Day trip tomorrow...
Out for the day tomorrow...out for lunch with my fiancee's brother...I find the idea of eating out is giving me anxiety...any tips on what is good to order? Obviously salad seems the most obvious, but for some reason I have this idea in my head that someone once told me restaurant salads are no better than anything else youc an order...any tips would be appreciated!!
Hope the weekend is all treating you to wonderful weather!
The weekend is here!
Aqua-zumba = sore butt and arms...who knew?! I'll take it, spring cleaning tomorrow, bbq steaks and a fire with some awesome people! S'mores!
Back at 'er!
The winter from hell has officially ended with the last final stubborn pile of snow disappearing from our backyard! Looking through facebook pictures, the snow started staying at the start of November...and when my parents visited at the end of April we still had drifts up to my waist...count 'em SIX MONTHS of snow! (yes caps are deserved!). When it wasn't snowing it was -40...sigh northern ontario you suck!!!!
But, but, but...the sun was out today! Outside in capris, flip flops sunglasses and a good book (Camilla Lackberg writes great crime novels based in Sweden for anyone looking for something new to read). Neighbours are out cleaning boats and trailers, 4 wheelers are running up and down the trails...we need to buy some toys....hmmm
Back into the zumba swing of things thankfully. Time to get this behind moving again, anxiety creeps up on me when I don't move...you would think I would do something about it more often, but whatev, starting anew!
Family wedding in June, Thunder Bay Bluesfest in July, vacation and wedding dress shopping (eek!) in August...good times, Happy May 2-4 all!
Finally!
I can finally function without coughing my lungs out, yeehaw. Looking forward to a long birthday weekend with a girls day and some quilting time! Happy almost-weeken!
Winter lingers...
Loving that it is already 5:50 and its still light out! Despite the fact that we are supposed to get another 10-15cm of snow...
Mother Nature needs to get over it...
Finally got that winter cold that I had managed to avoid up until now. Sidelined for a couple of days...going to power through and head to the city shopping on Saturday with some girlfriends! **Its almost the weekend happy dance!**
Sometimes!
Week is almost done!
Woke up to the weather actually being tolerable! Was nice to walk out to the car without my hair freezing solid! Of course it is now -25..sigh
Got to go out in the field today, something I miss while being in the office getting the hang of my new job!
Zumba step! I'm nowhere near coordinated enough...great workout though! Excuse the very dry skin...any suggestions for a great winter moisturizer??
Looking forward to getting back out on the lake!
Wasn't the best eating well/workout week, but I actually didn't gain any weight!
Happy Friday all!
Tomorrow!
The Canada Post parcel tracker tells me my Zumba Step stuff will arrive tomorrow! Excited!!
