Community in helpol spaces

In a practise such a hellenic polytheism- or any practise that diverges from christianity- it can be very hard trying to find community, and even harder trying to find a new, kind, and calm community free of constant bustle and hussle Here, I want to introduce ....Candle light! Candle light is a relatively new but lovely server with experienced mods, a huge variety of channels, and quick-answers to any possible questions! Everyone from the age 13+ is welcome, and we hope that you'll consider dropping by and saying Hi! Absolutely be political in your worship.

Aphrodite isn't called Pandemos (of All People) so you can sit around and let the big names capitalise love and serve it only to those who can afford to pay past the persecution. Hermes isn't called Oeopolus (Shepherd) so you can sit around and let a bunch of power-hungry wolves lead a flock of influencable sheep. Apollo isn't called Paean (Healer) so you can sit around while wealthy corporations serve healthcare only to those who can afford not to die. Athena isn't called Ambulia (Counsellor) so you can sit around while the people are being fed propaganda against each other to divert them from the real enemy at the top. Dionysus isn't called Eleuthereus (the Liberator) so you can sit around while freedom is only granted to those whose skins have the acceptable colour while the others die in chains. Zeus isn't called Xenios (of the Foreigners) so you can sit around while the borders are closed to those who need it and only open to those who can give back the money.

The Gods stand with the oppressed, and so should you.

YOUR GODS DONT HATE YOU

I can't stress this enough. Your gods love you, TRUST ME. They love and care for you so much, so much more then you might realize.. the gods only want the best for you, they want YOU to be the best version of yourself. It is so hard to anger deities, especially to an extreme amount. If you do feel you've upset a deity, apologize with prayers and offerings, you're likely to be forgiven.

Based on the fact that you mentioned a place to talk about altars and not shrines in your discord server promotion that it is a a non-reconstruction, revivalist helpol server?

It would be helpful if people creating these servers were more specific about the kind of Hellenic Polytheism their servers are about. A lot of the non-recon communities are overrun with teenagers who treat the religion like a fandom and the theoi like their blorbos. Does yours have age requirements?

I like to leave it up to the members of the server to decide how they want to practice hellenic polytheism(as long as it's respectful).

I, personally, try to be as recon as I can within my practices, although occasionally I may have some revivals based views and thoughts on things. When giving resources, "teaching" someone on something, I do guve reconstructionist tips, and recommend to other members to try giving recon tips when helping someone^^ although it's all up to the person in their practice, I even have a mod who isn't helpol lol! He's astaru, but worships hekate :). So we are helpol based, but not specifically recon or revivalist.

And I agree on the communities being overrun and the religion being mistreated by reckless teenagers. I, myself, am a teenager and I absolutely despise those people. I view my gods and practice from a religious standpoint, not one where I'm "close friends"(in a casual way, ykw I mean) or "in a relationship" with a deity.

I mentioned "altars" instead of "shrines" because I find that altars are significantly more common within helpol communities(correct me if I'm wrong, but I barely see shrines anymore :(), and it mwrely did not come to mind at the time(i may add it now tho, ty for the idea/gen).

Mine does have age requirements too, user must be atleast 13 is all I require. I thin I stated on a different post about that, but it is also stated in our rulebook!

This is all on my server, the helpol café tho, on the other server, "spawn of greece" it is also only helpol based, not specifically recon or revivalist. I am merely an admin in that server and advertising^^
