I think that part of what makes Elias (the 200 year old eldritch horror, not the stoner) so compelling is that he has so much whimsy. He's really out here living his best life. He got himself a job doing what he is passionate about (stalking his employees and his one true love, scheduling). He makes bets with other harbingers of terror and loses on purpose so that he can laugh at them later when they lose. He uses his freaky Beholding powers for Cake Purposes. What a legend.

the best thing about murderbot's whole 'i still hate you Just So You Know' deal with gurathin is that while it's not really true, obviously, it's also not not true. it obviously considers gurathin one of its humans, will go out of its way to protect him, clearly enjoys the semi-hostile verbal sparring they do (one only has to look at its relationship with ART to see how murderbot adores bickering) - and yet it's still holding a grudge over what happened on the presaux survey. and i don't even really think its even still actually mad about that; i think mostly it's just reveling in the freedom to GET to cling to an utterly petty grudge over something that isn't life or death.

and the fact that gurathin is so tolerantly amused about the whole thing makes me suspect that he gets that, too.
