You know, one thing i like about Mulan is how Yao, Ling and Chien Po don’t really seem to care about the fact that Mulan is a girl.

I mean, when they find out, they are visibly perplexed

But even so, they rush and try to help her when she’s about to get killed

After this, they all seem quite depressed about having to leave her behind (and when Shang ignores her)

And when she shows up and takes action, they gladly follow her lead

And they even rock some crossdressing, like she did

(btw they just missed a great opportunity to make Shang crossdress here, shame on you movie)

Honestly, i just think this needs more appreciation. Because to them, Mulan didn’t have to prove herself again, just because she is a girl. She already earned their friendship and respect when she was ‘Ping’, and that was enough.

A Difficult Time

When life gets too difficult, The mind goes into overdrive. Some people might run, And some people might cry. There are people who try to stay strong, But there's only much one can do. Being an adult is difficult, The world always seem to be against you. The people around you are kind, They do their best to help you. But there's only so much that they can do, How long exactly can they hold you. The government does nothing to help, And you can only try to survive. How long can your willpower last, How long until your knees collapse. When life gets too difficult, My mind just shuts itself down. I sometimes write these poems, But how long will this life last?

Oh My Ghost(ess) First Impression

I’m not really a critique but I decided I at least needed to pen down my thoughts somewhere and Tumblr is kind of like a blog right?

Anyway, the first K-drama I watched was titled “Jealousy Incarnate” and I really liked the acting skills of Jo Kung Suk and Kong Hyo Jin and decided that I should watch other works by them. Thus “Oh My Ghost(ess)”.

(Please note that there may be spoilers ahead, most likely yes there are.)

I was drawn to the plot of an introverted girl being possessed by an extroverted ghost. The idea that main man’s attention would be drawn in by the Ghost was interesting. However, I also had in my mind that there would be spiritual communication between the possessed and the ghost–you know like how they talk with each other in her mind–as it was stated that she can see ghost because of her shaman grandma. So I just assumed, and in my opinion, it would have made for a better story.

I’m only a few episodes in and I’m frustrated that the supposed “first female lead” is in the side lines and the “second female lead” is doing all the grunt work. Don’t get me wrong, Park Bo Young’s acting is amusing to watch but in the story so far, her character is just a back seat driver. I wanted more interaction because at least I would know that she would be shedding her introverted self slowly as she has no choice but to watch this extroverted ghost drive her body. Instead we get a girl who has no idea what’s happening because of the possession.

Also, what is up with that police officer? He got some dark side to him. What’s the story with Seo Joon and Na Bong Sun? Guess I’ll have to watch more in order to get the story. Unlike others, I like looking at spoilers and it’s infuriating that K-Dramas don’t have any blogs that are dedicated in revealing them.
