Ethan didn’t quite know how he was feeling at that moment, his thoughts were occupied by the lie that he had believed for years, by the memories of the hostility that the pair shared after their break up. There was nothing either of them could do to take that back, to take back the words that had been said and the actions done. Perhaps if everything had been different, if they had chosen to ignore Sophia then everything would be as it should have been between them - he only wished that it could have been that way. An aching pain in his chest brought him to a stop as Natalia spoke, her words resonating deep within his stomach. She was right.. He had managed to moved on - not very easily but.. He had. But, that was all over now yet - he still felt an obligation to remain faithful to Faye.. Even though they hadn’t been together very long he cared for the deceased woman deeply, he still mourned her. “I do too..” He agreed, brows furrowing in sadness as he peered toward the young woman who formerly held his heart - the one he thought would have held it for the rest of his life. Yet now, all he felt when looking at her was an aching pain in his chest, a longing pain. “I’m sorry, Lia..” He sighed as his hand moved to his brow, thumb and forefinger smoothing over the area.
It was clear to see they had been screwed over, and neither of them truly knew where to go from here. It was a predicament without a way of resolution, for now the only thing they could do was attempt to repair the damage that had already been done. Though, Natalia did not know how to do that, things were damaged, they were both hurt. It would take time for them to heal. However, this felt like a weight off of her chest, knowing that neither of them truly hurt one another. It gave them a chance, a small one but one at leas. “You have nothing to be sorry for.” She replied, reaching out for his hand, gently squeezing it. She wanted to see a way around this, she truly did, but it felt impossible. “Things aren’t bad, if anything, they got better. We finally know the truth, we know we were both faithful, we can finally have what we had....just as friends.” She smiled weakly, wishing it was more than that, but things weren’t the same, not completely. “I miss us.” She voiced honestly, heaving a sigh.
